According to TVLine, FOX chief Kevin Reilly confirmed on Monday that the musical show is moving permanently to New York City, as it’d been rumored a few months ago.
The move is going to happen even sooner than expected. The show “will go to New York exclusively for the second half” of the current season, Reilly announced.
This means that a few regular cast members will have to leave the show, since it would be impossible and, in Reilly’s words, “ridiculous” to make all the characters move to the Big Apple. “This season, there’s going to be a graduation [from McKinley High],” explained the FOX chief, “Several of the cast members will move on, and a few others will go to New York.”
The characters who have been let go this season “arc back in when we do special episodes. They’ll always be a part of it. The way it’s going to dovetail next season, we’re going to see some familiar faces coming around in some capacity.”
Even Sue Sylvester, Jane Lynch’s funny villain, will remain on Glee! “As long as there’s a show, there’s Jane!,” assured Kevin Reilly.
This news come after the official announcement that Glee will definitely end next year, following the conclusion of the sixth season.
