According to Comicbook, since the full release of Ahsoka has concluded, the next release for the Star Wars franchise is Skeleton Crew. The series was originally pitched as being similar to films such as The Goonies and Stand By Me set in a galaxy that’s far far away. The studio’s first copyright filing states that the series follows a group of four kids who make a discovery that is not only strange but dangerous as well.
The new synopsis reads, “In the first episode of the Skeleton Crew we are introduced to four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet and get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home, meeting unlikely allies and enemies, will be a great adventure than they ever imagined.”

According to Comicbook, the filing has also confirmed that Jon Watts (Cop Car) has directed the pilot episode. The primary cast includes Jude Law (Closer), Ryan Kiera Armstrong (American Horror Story), Robert Timothy Smith (Good Girls), Ravi Cavot-Conyers (Encanto), and Kyrianna Kratter (Bunk’d). Skeleton Crew will be taking place in the same timeline as other Star Wars series on Disney+. Jon Favreau (The Mandalorian) previously suggested that the characters from the series were popping up in other projects around the same time.
Favreau also shared during a conversation with Entertainment Weekly earlier this year, “To have this young, Amblin-feeling movie with young people, who grew up in the Star Wars world and are exposed to adventure. The puppets, the costumes, the visuals, the world that’s being expanded upon. And now I get to write the next season of Mandalorian with all these new characters and new locations and new creatures … There’s this cohesive group of stories that are being told thanks to all these filmmakers that are contributing.”
Skeleton Crew is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ at a later date.
