The Hawkins gang hopes to reunite for the “best spring break ever” in the newest trailer for Netflix’s fourth season of Stranger Things. The hit horror drama series announced during its Stranger Things Day event that season four will premiere Summer of 2022. Check out the short teaser below.
The video features Millie Bobbie Brown’s (Godzilla, Elona Holmes) Eleven writing a letter to her long-distance boyfriend, Mike Wheeler, played by Finn Wolfhard (Ghostbusters: Afterlife, The Turning). In the letter, she alludes to how she’s adapting – more or less – to her and Will Byers’ (Noah Schnapp) new life in California. As we recall, season three ended with Will’s mother Joyce, played by Winona Ryder (girl, interrupted, The Plot Against America), packing up for new horizons in the Golden State.
Although Eleven describes herself loving her new school and making a bunch of friends, she still remains somewhat of an outcast and a target for bullies, which is why she’s longing for the visit back to Indiana for spring break. But as the trailer plays on, Eleven’s best-laid plans look to be thwarted by new threats. An ominous shot of her on a roller rink precedes a scene of total panic. Bullets tear through the windows of Joyce’s home. And unknown agents are seen chasing the family, before grabbing Eleven.
As we recall, an earlier trailer made reference to the return of Eleven’s mad scientist creator, Matthew Modine’s (Wrong Turn, Full Metal Jacket) Dr. Martin Brenner. Perhaps these armed hoodlums are connected to some danger he conjures up in the newest season. The trailer also cleverly refrained from showing any horror elements as it relates to the parallel universe, The Upside Down, where Will Byers went missing in season one. However, a previous trailer featured a new family and their connection to the distorted reality that haunts beneath the surface.
According to Deadline, Netflix also announced the titles for each of the nine episodes this season. They are as follows:
“The Hellfire Club”
“Vecna’s Curse”
“The Monster and the Superhero”
“Dear Billy”
“The Nina Project”
“The Dive”
“The Massacre at Hawkins Lab”
“Papa”
“The Piggyback”
Season four of The Duffer Brothers’ (Hidden, Wayward Pines) Stranger Things will see the return of the main cast, which includes Gaten Matarazzo (Park Encounters, The Angry Birds Movie 2), Caleb McLaughlin (Concrete Cowboy, Dora and the Lost City of Gold), Joe Keery (Free Guy, Spree), Natalie Dyer (Yes, God, Yes, Things Heard & Seen), Charlie Heaton (The New Mutants, Marrowbone), Maya Hawke (Fear Street Part One: 1994, Little Women), Priah Ferguson (The Oath), and Sadie Sink (Fear Street Part Two: 1978, Eli). This season will also see the addition of several new characters along with the suspected return of David Harbour’s (Manhattan, Black Widow) Jim Hopper.
