Comedy Central is giving Jim Jefferies a weekly forum to tell Piers Morgan what he can go do to himself.
Deadline reports that the Australian comedian is set to host an untitled weekly late-night series. The first season of Jefferies’ series will be 10 half-hour episodes, and premiere sometime this summer. The series will be in line with fellow shows Last Week Tonight With John Oliver, Full Frontal With Samantha Bee, and Real Time With Bill Maher, though Jefferies will travel the world as he address current stories and political issues.
“Jim has a huge comedic voice on the global stage,” said Comedy Central president Kent Alterman. “During development, we also learned his talent is only surpassed by his incredible work ethic.”
Jefferies has been a powerhouse stand-up for several years now, first hitting it big in the US with his HBO special I Swear to God. His latest special, Freedumb, debuted on Netflix last summer, which he followed up with an international tour. Along with his solid body of stand-up Jefferies also co-created, wrote, produced and starred in FX’s Legit. Though Jefferies has been a big name in comedy, he recently gained an even bigger spotlight thanks to his back-and-forth with Piers Morgan on HBO’s Real Time With Bill Maher.
