Netflix revealed which original series will be coming this May and fans will also see some original series returning, Polygon reports.
First we have Marseille, a French political drama series revolving around a Southern France port city. The series follows Robert Taro (Gérard Depardieu) the mayor of Marseille, who clashes with his successor Lucas Barrès (Benoît Magimel), who he hand-picked. Lucas is determined to uncover the corruption among the city’s leaders. Two opposing clans are at each other’s throats over their fate and the whole city suffers. There’s violence, sex, political scandals, and betrayal in the city of Marseille. You can watch Marseille on May 5.
In addition to Depardieu and Magimel, the series stars Géraldine Pailhas (Rachel Taro), Nadia Farès (Vanessa d’Abrantès), Stéphane Caillard (Julia), Jean-René Privat (Cosini), Guillaume Arnault (Eric), Hedi Bouchenafa (Farid), Carolina Jurczak (Barbara), and Nassim Si Ahmed (Selim).
Debuting the following day on Netflix (May 6) is Grace and Frankie. For those who have yet to watch the first season of Grace and Frankie, the comedy series is about two rivals (Grace & Frankie) who constantly try to one-up each other but one day their one-upmanship suddenly stops after they learn that their husbands have fallen in love with each other and plan to get married. Just as everything with the ladies comes apart, the only thing they can do is turn to one another for support.
The series stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin as Grace and Frankie.
Then there’s Chelsea, which will premiere on May 11. Chelsea Handler is back at it again with a new talk show. The first season of Chelsea will debut on Netflix three days a week, Wednesday through Friday and is actually the streaming service’s first attempt at a talk show.
Two weeks after Handler’s talk show, Lady Dynamite will debut (May 20). The upcoming comedy series stars Maria Bamford and is a mockumentary based on her life. Lady Dynamite tells the story of a woman who loses and then finds herself as she works towards getting her big break. The series will feature occasional surreal episodes inspired by multiple periods of the actor/comedian’s life.
On May 27, the popular dramatic thriller, Bloodline will return for its second season. The series explores an American family with dark secrets. The Rayburns are hard-working pillars of their Florida Keys community who hope to keep their shady past buried. Naturally, paranoia and deception spreads as the lies pile up, alliances are shattered, and horrific crimes occur. Season 2 will return with more death, sex, and deception.
Bloodline stars Kyle Chandler (John Rayburn), Ben Mendelsohn (Danny Rayburn), Linda Cardellini (Meg Rayburn), Norbert Leo Butz (Kavin Rayburn), and Jacinda Barrett (Diana Rayburn), Jamie McShane (Eric O’Bannon), Enrique Muricano (Marco Diaz), and Sissy Spacek (Sally Rayburn)
And last but certainly not least is Chef’s Table,an American documentary series that profiles a single world-renowned chef in each episode. Food lovers welcome! Season 2 will feature Alex Atala, Dom, (São Paulo), Ana Roš, Hiša Franko (Kobarid), Dominique Crenn, Atelier Crenn (San Francisco), Enrique Olvera, Pujol (Mexico City), Gaggan Anand, Gaggan (Bangkok) and Grant Achatz, Alinea, Next, The Aviary (Chicago).
