YouTube will soon be launching its first original programming for YouTube Red subscribers.
According to Variety, YouTube will be testing to see if customers are willing to pay $10 per month for its new streaming service. YouTube Red will be similar to other streaming services available its content will primarily showcase popular YouTube stars among the millennial demographic.
YouTube’s upcoming video service will premiere three films and a reality-adventure series. These three movies and series will only be available to subscribers of YouTube Red which offers ad-free viewing of all the site’s programming as well as unlimited access to YouTube music.
The reality-adventure series titled Scare PewDiePie stars YouTube’s widely known game vlogger Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg. Kjellberg known for his online alias PewDiePie has about 42 million youtube subscribers. Scare PewDiePie was started by Disney’s Maker Studios and the creator and executive producers of The Walking Dead at Skybound Entertainment. In the series, viewers will see PewDiePie dealing with frightening scenarios all from his favorite video games.
The three films that YouTube’s video service is soon debuting are A Trip to Unicorn Island, Dance Camp, and Lazer Team.
A Trip to Unicorn Island is a documentary that follows famous YouTuber Lilly Singh aka Superwoman on her global tour.
Dance Camp is a musical teen drama from AwesomenssTV. Dance Camp will be similar to the highly successful High School Musical and feature digital stars including Meg DeAngelis, Nadji Jeter, and Jake Paul.
Lazer Team, from Rooster Teeth and Fullscreen Films is a sci-fi action-comedy. The movie centers on four small town losers who come across an alien ship filled with strange cargo which results in a battle to save the world from powerful villain.

Susanne Daniels, YouTube’s global head of original content stated “The diverse, dynamic creators behind these films have already built massive audiences on YouTube, rivaling many cable shows.” Daniels went on to say “With YouTube Red Originals, we want to help them tell bigger and bolder stories that delight you, their fans.”
YouTube Red will officially premiere its new reality-adventure series and three films on Wednesday, February 10.
