FX has officially renewed American Horror Story for season 14, extending the long-running horror anthology series created by Ryan Murphy (Glee, 9-1-1) and Brad Falchuk (Glee, Scream Queens). According to The Hollywood Reporter, the renewal will likely push American Horror Story beyond 150 episodes, further extending its record as FX’s longest-running hourlong series.
The announcement comes just nine days before the season 13 finale, scheduled to air October 29. Murphy previously said he wants to keep producing the anthology indefinitely, suggesting the franchise still has room to expand.
Season 13 has brought together several familiar faces from earlier installments, with Murphy comparing the ensemble to Marvel’s The Avengers. Returning stars include Sarah Paulson (Ratched, The People v. O. J. Simpson), Evan Peters (Dahmer, Mare of Easttown) and Jessica Lange (Feud, Tootsie).
The season also features Angela Bassett (Black Panther, 9-1-1), Kathy Bates (Misery, Matlock) and Emma Roberts (Scream Queens, We’re the Millers). Billie Lourd (Booksmart, Scream Queens), Gabourey Sidibe (Precious, Empire), and Leslie Grossman (Popular, What I Like About You) also return, alongside American Horror Story newcomers Joey Pollari (Love, Simon, The Inbetweeners) and Paul Anthony Kelly (Love Story, Body Language).
The returning cast has helped deliver a strong start for the latest installment. Season 13 recorded the biggest four-day streaming launch for any Murphy series on Hulu and Disney+, and appeared in Nielsen’s top ten streaming rankings during its first two weeks.
Beyond the renewal, Murphy has expressed interest in expanding American Horror Story internationally. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter at the season 13 premiere, he said he wants to explore how the anthology could work outside the United States.
“I really want this show to go international,” Murphy said, adding that he has been considering what an international version of Horror Story might look like. However, no international installment has been officially announced.
Produced by 20th Television, American Horror Story continues under Murphy and Falchuk’s leadership alongside its executive producing team. While FX has confirmed season 14, it has not revealed additional details about the cast, storyline, or premiere date.
