Guest appearances for season two of the comedy-drama series Rooster have been announced, according to Deadline. The creators behind the hit TV series are Bill Lawrence (Ted Lasso, Shrinking) and Matt Tarses (Mad Love, Alex, Inc.).
The series premiered March 8th, 2026 on HBO Max. Rooster follows an author who visits a campus where his daughter teaches art history. His daughter recently had been separated from a professor who teaches at the same university. The professor had cheated on her with a post doctorate student at the same university. The author leads a lecture as guest speaker and checks-in on his daughter during the visit. The dean of the school also offers him a job to teach for a semester, to which he eventually agrees to before he leaves for his trip back and ends up staying on campus for the rest of first season.
Joining season two of Rooster includes actor O-T Fagbenle (No Good Deed, The Handmaid’s Tale), actress Sutton Foster (Younger, Bunheads), actor Lamorne Morris (New Girl, Spider-Noir), actor Zavior Phillips (Read the Room, Inconvenience), and actor Michael Urie (Shrinking, Ugly Betty). Actress Connie Britton (Nashville, Friday Night Lights) who plays Elizabeth Stoddard, is also returning to the show as a season two guest star.
Expected main cast members from season one to return for the new season includes fan favorite Steve Carell (The Office, Crazy, Stupid, Love) as Greg Russo, Charly Clive (The Lazarus Project, Britney) as Katie Russo, Phil Dunster (Ted Lasso, Surface) as Archie Bates, Danielle Deadwyler (Till, The Woman in the Yard) as Dylan Shepard, Lauren Tsai as Sunny (Legion, The Dying World), and Robby Hoffman (Hacks, Dying for Sex) as Mo. Season one recurring stars Annie Mumolo (Joy Ride, The Idea of You) as Cristle, Maximo Salas (The Runarounds, R.J. Decker) as Tommy Newton, and Rory Scovel as Officer Donnie Mullins, are now season two regulars. Rooster averaged over 6 million views per episode, and Carell’s performance as Greg Russo got him a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
