According to The Hollywood Reporter, Apple TV renewed the psychological thriller Imperfect Women for a second season. The renewal for the series comes five months after the first season finished airing. The show was initially positioned as a limited series.
The Hollywood Reporter reports that the series follows the story of Nancy, who gets murdered and her best friend Eleanor is called in to identify the body. The cast of the series includes Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale, The Invisible Man), Kate Mara (Fantastic Four, The Martian), Kerry Washington (Django Unchained, The Prophecy), Joel Kinnaman (Suicie Squad, For All Mankind), Corey Stoll (Ant- Man, The Better Sister), Indiana Elle (The Housemaid, The Dink) and many others.
“We were thrilled to see how deeply these women and their stories resonated with audiences around the world, and I’m so excited to step back into Eleanor’s shoes,” Washington said in a statement via The Hollywood Reporter. “She’s intelligent and strong, but she also finds herself navigating complicated and sometimes messy situations. We at Simpson Street along with our incredible partners at Apple and Love & Squalor Pictures can’t wait to explore a fresh chapter for her and share where this story takes us next.”
As per The Hollywood Reporter, the second season of the series will follow Eleanor as she returns to her roots in the affluent Black enclave of Martha’s Vineyard, where long-held secrets “threaten to upend everything she thought she knew about her past,” according to the show’s logline.
“After a wildly entertaining first season, driven by the performances of Kerry, Lizzie and Kate, we jumped at the opportunity to expand the world of Imperfect Women through Kerry’s fan favorite character of Eleanor,” said Matt Cherniss, head of programming at Apple TV via The Hollywood Reporter. “Annie and Justin’s thrilling new story felt like an exciting and natural next chapter. We can’t wait for fans to experience it.”
Imperfect Women is available to stream on Apple TV.
