Landman is welcoming a new star to its season three cast. Michael Kelly, know for House of cards and recently on Lioness, is switching over to Taylor Sheridan’s (Yellowstone, 1883) Landman, The Hollywood Reporter said.
Set against the rapidly growing oil towns of West Texas, Landman is a fictional drama that explores the current pursuit of wealth and power within the oil industry. The series follows roughnecks and ambitious oil executives. The region’s massive boom continues to influence the climate, economy, and global politics.
Kelly will take on the role of William Crockett, a new series regular. Crockett heads the world’s largest oil management firm. He is a true businessman who lives and breathes productivity and profit. According to The Hollywood Reporter, his character description reads: “He is a titan of industry and everything about him exudes efficiency and money”
Kelly is replacing a character similar to Crockett, who died in season one of Landman, Monty Miller, played by John Hamm (Mad Men, Baby Driver). This led to his widowed wife, Cami Miller, played by Demi Moore (The Substance, Ghost), inheriting her husband’s legacy in the oil industry.
Season two of Landman added its own star addition: Sam Elliott (1883, Road House). Elliot played the father of Tommy Norris. Norris was played by Billy Bob Thornton (Bad Santa, Sling Blade).
After the promising season two finale, Sheridan told The Hollywood Reporter the third season would be a “reset.” He never specified how. Kelly’s major role may be just that.
In addition to Thornton, Moore and Elliott, the cast includes Andy Garcia (The Godfather Part III, Ocean’s Eleven), Ali Larter (Final Destination, Heroes), Jacob Lofland (Mud, The Son), Michelle Randolph (1923, Scream 7), Paulina Chávez (Ashley Garcia: Genius in Love, The Long Game), Kayla Wallace (Feeling Butterflies, When Grown-Up Christmas List), Mark Collie (The Punisher, Fire Down Below), James Jordan (Kill Switch, Fire Down Below) and Colm Feore (Bon Cop, Bad Cop, Storm of the Century).
Landman is produced by Paramount Television Studios, 101 Studios, and Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions.
