Paramount+ has released a first look at the fourth season of Tulsa King. The streaming service announced the premiere date, a teaser trailer and a season synopsis, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Season four of Tulsa King premieres Friday, Oct. 16, exclusively on Paramount+. The trailer is generating buzz for the new season.
Sylvester Stallone (Rocky, First Blood) remains the star of the series as an Oklahoma robber. Stallone told The Hollywood Reporter, “You can’t get rid of me.”
However, the Tulsa King cast also welcomes a fresh face with Gretchen Mol (The Notorious Bettie Page, Boardwalk Empire) joining as a series regular. In addition to Mol, stars Martin Starr (Freaks and Geeks, Silicon Valley), Jay Will (Rob Peace, It Doesn’t Matter), Vincent Piazza (Boardwalk Empire, The Intervention), Annabella Sciorra (The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, Jungle Fever) Chris Caldovino (Brooklyn Rules, Stealing Cars), McKenna Quigley Harrington (Susie Searches, The Dead Half), Frank Grillo (Boss Level, The Purge: Anarchy), Mike “Cash Flo” Walden (AEW Dark, Ohio Valley Wrestling TV), James Russo (Donnie Brasco, Extremities), Kevin Pollak (The Usual Suspects, A Few Good Men), Neal McDonough (The Last Rodeo, Homestead), Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy, Four Brother), and Dana Delany (China Beach, Body Proof) will return for season four.
Alongside the cast, Paramount+ released a synopsis of Tulsa King season four, which reads: “Dwight (Stallone) fights to legitimize his empire and protect his crew as corrupt politicians, dangerous new enemies, and a crushing personal loss hit from every direction. However, every hard-won gain comes with even harder truths: about loyalty, leadership, and the cost of ambition. Each move drags Dwight deeper into the street instincts he left behind in New York – turning Tulsa into a battleground and Dwight into the one threat no one can afford to underestimate.”
Behind the scenes, Tulsa King has faced ongoing tension among the show’s showrunners.
Terence Winter (Boardwalk Empire, Vinyl) developed the series and served as the original showrunner in season one. After the season ended, Winter and series creator Taylor Sheridan (Yellowstone, Landman) disagreed about the show’s direction. Winter stepped down as showrunner but remained a head writer for season two.
Craig Zisk (The English Teacher, Mr. St. Nick) took over as on-set showrunner for season two. Season three saw another change, with Dave Erickson (Fear the Walking Dead, Murder in Greenwich) stepping in. Another disagreement over the show’s direction arose between Erickson and Stallone.
Erickson has exited as showrunner, and Winter will return to the role for season four. Winter will also serve as head writer and executive producer.
