Fans of Hacks will soon be able to own the entire series in one collection. According to Variety, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment is preparing Hacks: The Complete Series, a Blu-ray box set collecting all five seasons of the Emmy-winning comedy.
The collection will go on sale sometime this fall, putting it on shelves in time for the holiday season. Variety notes that individual seasons of Hacks have previously been released on disc.
The collection will also feature previously unseen bonus material, Universal has not revealed the complete lineup of extras. However, creators Paul W. Downs (Broad City, Rough Night), Lucia Aniello (Broad City, The Baby-Sitters Club) and Jen Statsky (The Good Place, Parks and Recreation) confirmed that bloopers and deleted scenes will be included.
“We are so excited the complete series will be available on Blu-ray,” the trio said in a joint statement, joking that Deborah Vance would appreciate the importance of physical media after selling her special on QVC. The box set arrives shortly after Hacks brought Deborah and Ava’s complicated creative partnership to an end.
As mxdwn previously covered, the cast and creative team reflected on the HBO Max finale and the emotional process of saying goodbye after five seasons. That coverage focused on how the finale brought Deborah and Ava’s relationship full circle while allowing the series to close on the creative partnership that had driven the story from the beginning.
The final season also made Emmy history with 24 nominations, the most ever for a television comedy, along with another nomination for the digital short-form series Hacks: Bit by Bit. Among the acting nominees are Jean Smart (Designing Women, Mare of Easttown), Hannah Einbinder (Hacks, North Hollywood), Downs and Megan Stalter (Cora Bora, Too Much).
Across its run, Hacks earned 86 Emmy nominations and won 12 awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series in 2024. Smart has won four Emmys for playing Deborah, one for every season of the series that has competed so far.
With the series now finished, the upcoming Blu-ray collection gives fans a way to revisit Deborah and Ava’s entire story from the beginning while also seeing material that never made it into the finished episodes.
