Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear, In Treatment) has joined the cast of Hulu’s upcoming legal drama Conviction. According to Deadline, Colón-Zayas has been cast in a recurring guest role in the series, though details about her character remain under wraps.

She joins a cast led by Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale, Mad Men), who also serves as an executive producer, alongside Jimmi Simpson (Westworld, Dark Matter), William Jackson Harper (The Good Place, Love Life), Kevin McKidd (Grey’s Anatomy, Rome), Sebastian De Souza (The Great, Normal People), Adam Godley (The Great, Breaking Bad), Linda Emond (Only Murders in the Building, Succession), and Ella Anderson (Henry Danger, The Boss).

Deadline notes it’s based on Jack Jordan’s 2023 novel of the same name, Conviction follows criminal defense attorney Neve Harper, played by Moss. After landing a high-profile murder case involving a husband accused of killing his wife by setting their home on fire, Neve’s life takes an unexpected turn when a mysterious stranger begins blackmailing her.

Forced to protect her own secrets, she must choose between her legal and moral principles or risk everything. The series comes from creator David Shore (House, The Good Doctor), who executive produces alongside Moss, Jordan, Warren Littlefield (The Handmaid’s Tale, Fargo), Ann Johnson (The Handmaid’s Tale, Dopesick), Lisa Harrison (The Handmaid’s Tale, Fargo), Bert Salke (The Morning Show, Lessons in Chemistry), Lindsey McManus (The Handmaid’s Tale, Shining Girls), and Erin Gunn (House, The Good Doctor).

Colón-Zayas joins the series following another standout year for The Bear. Earlier this week, mxdwn covered the 2026 Emmy nominations, where the FX comedy was once again among the year’s most recognized programs.

Colón-Zayas earned another nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance as Tina Marrero, continuing the awards success that began with her historic Emmy win in 2024. According to Deadline, she has now received two Emmy nominations for the role and became the first Latina to win the supporting comedy actress category.

Her television credits also include Law & Order: SVU. Beyond television, Colón-Zayas will next appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day and recently completed work on the independent drama Fleur.

Conviction is based on Jordan’s bestselling novel and is currently in development at Hulu.
