With only two days from the premier of the second season of Netflx’s popular live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series, the star of the show, Gordon Cormier (The Stand, Lost in Space) goes on to reveal about a time skip that was never seen in the original animated series. Gordon spoke with Screenrant’s Grant Hermanns about how Aang has grown between seasons, noting that he doesn’t want the focus to be solely on the character’s physical changes. He explained, “But throughout all this growth and change, I think the biggest part of it was remembering who Aang was and what he wants out of all this: to save the world and save his friends along the way.”
Reported by Screenrant, this time jump not only reshape important character arcs within the series, but also in Aang’s responsibility as the Avatar. Gordon further adds in his statement,” Aang has difficulties, but it’s the way that he perseveres through them, and the hope that he sees, which makes him the awesome Avatar that he is.” The second season will showcase the next journey of Aang and his companions as they will venture throughout the Earth Kingdom encountering new allies and enemies , which includes Toph, played by Miya Cech (Rim of the World, The Astronauts), who will be Aang’s earth-bending teacher.
Another factor that is sure to elevate the upcoming season is the introduction of iconic locations such as Ba Sing Se and Wan Shi Tong’s Library, both of which were important stops on the gang’s journey in the original animated series.
According to Screenrant, of the course this is to the end, as the team is already beginning production of the third and final season, ensuring the complete story would be told. While waiting on the second season which is scheduled to debut on Netflix on June 25, the entire first season of the live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender is available to stream.
