The release of Dutton Ranch, the latest series installment under the Yellowstone franchise, has made history in the week since its premiere on May 15. Deadline reported that the series generated 12.9 million streaming views on a global scale, making it the biggest original series launch in streaming platform Paramount+’s history and landing high above its predecessor series’ The Madison’s 8 million views during its March release.
Dutton Ranch serves as both a spin-off and sequel to Yellowstone, starring Kelly Reilly (Black Box, True Detective) and Cole Hauser (Olympus Has Fallen, Transcendence) reprising their roles from the main series as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler respectively. Beth and Rip take a chance on building a new future in South Texas, but their attempt to leave Yellowstone behind collides with the brutal reality of life in the wake of disaster, coupled with a rival ranch determined to do anything to protect its empire.
Listed by Deadline, additional cast members include; Annette Bening (20th Century Woman, Apples Never Fall), Jai Courtney (Terminator Genisys, Divergent), Ed Harris (The Truman Show, Wyatt Earp and the Cowboy War), Natalie Alyn Lind (The Gifted, Gotham), Finn Little (Those Who Wish Me Dead, Reckoning), Marc Menchaca (Ozark, Homeland), Juan Pablo Raba (Six, Narcos), and J.R. Villarreal (Landman, United We Fall). The series is based on characters created by executive producers John Linson (Lords of Dogtown, Sons of Anarchy) and Taylor Sheridan (Sicario, Hell or High Water), with Dutton Ranch created, executive produced, and showrun by Chad Feehan (Lawmen: Bass Reeves, Ray Donovan), who had prior reportedly departed the production ahead of its release. Additional EPs are listed as Ron Burkle (The Giver, 3 Days to Kill), Keith Cox (Hot in Cleveland, The Exes), Michael Friedman (Lioness, Landman), David C. Glasser (Wind River, Mayor of Kingstown), David Hutkin (The Illusionist, Monster), Art Linson (1923, The Madison), Christina Alexandra Voros (Big Sky, 1883), and Bob Yari (Crash, Papa Hemingway in Cuba); alongside series stars Reilly and Hauser.
Per Deadline, Dutton Ranch also debuted on Paramount Network with a two-episode release. For the week of May 11 (which won’t be finalized for around another month), preliminary Nielsen data puts the series as the top streaming series for that time window. Paramount reportedly recorded heavy-hitting linear numbers for cable, with 1.9 million L+3 viewers for episode one – Dutton Ranch had the biggest cable premiere since 2023, ranking as the top cable entertainment telecast on its release day among both total viewers and adults ages 18-49.
Deadline noted that Paramount recently modified its audience metric to streaming views as opposed to recording total viewers, but that hasn’t affected the trackable momentum of season debuts from creator Sheridan. Notably, Landman was one of Paramount’s biggest series of 2025, with its season two premiere landing 9.2 million streaming views in its first two days.
Produced by 101 Studios and Paramount Television Studios, Dutton Ranch will have new episodes that stream and air each Friday on Paramount+ and Paramount Network.
