HBO has revealed the second teaser trailer for the anticipated House of the Dragon season three. At long last the fight for the Iron Throne will begin. This battle will have many losses but only one can claim the throne.
For those who don’t know, the series takes place 172 years before the events of Game of Thrones. We lay our eyes upon the Targaryen dynasty where they are the rulers of the Red Keep and they have dragons on their side. However, there are those who plot and plan the demise of the Targaryens in order for their goals to come to fruition. In the first season King Viserys Targaryen had died and named his daughter Rhaenyra as the heir to the throne. However, the Ser Otto Hightower had planned a usurpation of Rhaenyra in order for the king’s son Aegon Targaryen to take the throne. This action incited a civil war between the Targaryens.
In the teaser we bear witness to war, there are soldiers on boats, dragons in the air, and the tension is at an all time high. Rhaenrya is not only a part of this war but she must figure out what she hopes to gain from the outcome of this war. The teaser also shows Alicent’s brother Ormund Hightower, who voices a disdain opinion of the Targaryens. He says, “The Targaryens are a savage race.” We also see Aegon declare to Larys Strong that he will kill his brother or die trying, for in the last season Aemond tried to kill Princess Rhaenys and ended up accomplishing that goal but at the cost of burning and disfiguring his brother. The will be fire, ash, and blood as the teaser shows Daemon drawing his sword and fighting against other soldiers, as well as Ser Cristin Cole in another scene in the teaser, all that can be said is that the outcome will be determined as to who will live and who will die.
The cast consists of Matt Smith (The Death of Bunny Munro, Caught Stealing), Fabian Frankel (Task, The Actor), Steve Toussaint (Eyes of Wakanda, Prawn Bhuna), Emma D’Arcy (Rhoda, The Talent), Olivia Cooke (The Girlfriend, The Good Mother), Sonoya Mizuno (Star Wars: Vision, Eternal Return), Kurt Egyiawan (Andor, The Agency: Central Intelligence), Rhys Ifans (Inheritance, Venom: The Last Dance), Matthew Needham (The Generators, Napoleon), Jefferson Hall (Three, Oppenheimer), Ewan Mitchell (Wuthering Heights, Saltburn), Paul Kennedy (Miss Scarlet, Ancient Empires), Harry Collett (Closing In, Why Wouldn’t I Be?), Bethany Antonia (The War Master, Call Me Master), and Phia Saban (House of the Dragon, The Last Kingdom).
The series is set to premiere on June 21 2026 on HBO and HBO Max for streaming.
