From playing a racing boss to playing a Republican politician, Shea Whigham (Splinter, Take Shelter) flies to Hawaii for his next role. Whigham is well known for HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, and now will join the second season of Netflix’s drama Untamed.
According to Deadline, the first season of Untamed took place in Yosemite National Park. The Eric Bana (Hulk, The Dry)-produced show for season two is in the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The second season monitors ISB agent Kyle Turner, played by Bana, who is told to investigate an unknown death in a park. Tensions rise as the mystery and unpredictable landscape become a chaotic force.
Deadline reports that Whigham plays Ray Burkart, who sought a move from California to Hawaii almost 30 years ago. Burkart dips his feet in various other side jobs, including some not so legal things. Riddled with grief, he and Turner clash while searching for justice for his son’s murder.
Next, Deadline writes that Untamed is a six-part dramatic series that comes from the minds of Mark L. Smith (American Primeval, Vacancy) and Elle Smith (Miss USA 2021, Miss USA 2022), which is from the Warner Bros. Television Studio. The Smiths are exec-producing with Bana as well as John Wells (August: Osage County, Bermuda Island) and Erin Jontow (The Pitt, Emperor of Ocean Park), a part of John Wells Productions. The two companies made a partnership to produce the show along with Todd Black (Antwone Fisher, The Equalizer 2) via Escape Artists Entertainment, as well as Steve Lee Jones (Hitmen, Chief of Station) for Bee Holder Production, and Cliff Roberts (The Midnight Sky, The Dog Stars) for Syndicate Entertainment.
Filming for season two began in 2026, but Netflix has not yet announced when Untamed will come out.
