

The ongoing streaming war is beginning to enter new phase with one of the major platform set to coming to a close. Reported by Screenrant, the platform in question is Hulu, which has been well known for its vast content and became a go to since its release in 2007. Subscribers will not need to worry about losing their favorite shows such as Only Murders in the Building and The Bear because they will be transferred and become apart of the fully merged Disney+ .
The plan behind the combining of the apps is to creating an extensive entertainment hub, while maximizing subscriber value, driving advertising revenue, and optimizing operational efficiencies by seamlessly integrating content, marketing, and technology. Screenrant reports, other additional information that will transport alongside the app with Disney+ will compromise of login credentials, viewing histories, and watchlists to allow a flawless experiences to new and existing subscribers. Additionally, the merger will undoubtedly enhance the viewing experience by providing a faster, more efficient televised format at a significantly lower cost.
Stated by Screenrant, the first major domino to fall will be the Nintendo Switch, where the Hulu app will no long be on the system’s eshop and will cease to function on February 5. From there, Disney plans to remove the app from other devices which includes smart TVs, mobile devices, and gaming consoles, which the global phase out to occur around mid-2026. Furthermore, the Nintendo Switch two will experience the same, alongside discontinuing Youtube and Crunchyroll, but will remain on the original model.
While the date of the platform shutdown is still far away, viewers can still stream their favorite Hulu originals as of right now all the way up till the shutdown date. The era of app-hopping is coming to an end as Disney confidently moves forward with its app merger.
