I think it was probably naive of us to think we could break The Talisman.” Duffer continues to explain, “When I interned, when I was really, you know, back in college at Kennedy Marshall, I remember reading, I think it was movie script for Talisman. So it’s been in development forever, so I’m sorry that we were not the ones to breathe curse. It will be will be whoever does it and cracks it.”
According to Screenrant, the adaptation was going to be produced by Curtis Gwinn (Narcos, The Leftovers), was going to be named as producer and showrunner. The last few years there has been many changes in the entertainment industry that has caused some ups and downs. Both Netflix and Paramount were in a bidding war to acquire Warner Bros Discovery, Netflix won that bid.
Screenrant explained that The Talisman is about a 12-year-old boy on a journey to find a cure for his dying mother. This journey takes him to different territories which ties into King’s Dark Tower, which was a sequel published in 2001continuing Jack’s story in his adult years.
Screenrant reported that the works of King have been successful as adaptations, including HBO’s recent expansion of the IT franchise with Welcome to Derry. The Talisman will most likely continue to be just as successful.
