The actress also appeared on the British series Doctor Who and the BBC drama titled Howard’s Way.
British actress Kate O’Mara, who played Joan Collins’ sister on the ABC series during the 1980s, died in Sussex, England, on Sunday morning at the age of 74. Her agent Phil Belfield said that O’Mara died in a nursing home after a short illness.
The actress, who is a TV veteran since the 1960s , had roles on British shows The Saint and also in The Avengers. Her credits include sister Cassandra Caress Morell in Dynasty.
Kate O’Mara was born in Leicester, UK, and was the daughter of actress Hazel Bainbridge (The Family Way) and John Carroll. She first started her career as a speech therapist, but later was caught in the acting business, making her debut on The Merchant of Venice, at the age of 24, as noted by Deadline.
O’Mara founded The British Actor’s Theatre Company and wrote four books: two autobiographies Vamp Until Ready and Game Plan: A Woman’s Survival Kit as well as two fiction titles, When She Was Bad and Good Time Girl.
The actress is survived by her sister, actress Belinda Carroll.
