‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3 Episode 5 “The Pirate”

Disney Plus’s original series The Mandalorian ,season three episode five entitled “The Pirate,” kicks off with Carl Weathers’s Greef Karga as his planet comes under attack by a band of pirates. The surprising thing about this is how one of his droids suggests paying them to leave the planet alone. However, he decides not as it could lead to an even bigger situation in the future. The viewer can tell by the look in his eyes that he thought about it for a moment which demonstrates that there is a part of him that feels an itch to do shady deals. Luckily, he sends for help from Paul Lee’s Captain Carson as he works for the New Republic.

Additionally, the viewer gets a fresh look at how petitions for assistance works with the new government in charge. It can be assumed that the New Republic is still making the same mistakes of the past. This is due to how Captain Carson’s superior refuses to send help as the planet is independent from the New Republic. This is similar to how the Jedi refused to help other planets and, in the end, no one came to help them. In his mind, Captain Carson knows leaving the planet to fight on its own is not right. Deep down he starts to doubt if the New Republic is better than the empire as it has no problem letting others suffer.

At the end of the episode, Captain Carson ends up asking Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin, Katee Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan Kryze, and the rest of the Mandalorians for help. The interesting part about this is how the Mandalorians have a hearing to decide if they should help or not. The interesting thing about this is how Tait Fletcher’s Paz Vizsla wants to help stop the pirates. From the way Din and Bo-Katan move their heads the viewer can tell that they are surprised he wants to help. It would seem that he is tired of living in the shadows and wants to have a real home. This is a result of Din mentioning that they all can live on Greef’s planet as he was offered land. This ends up being true. As a thank you they are given a huge set of land for them to settle in which could lead to more recruits in the future. Not to mention that Bo-Katan is sent out to find other Mandalorians that are spread out across the galaxy. This is due to them wanting to build up their strength so they can take back their original planet.
