Previously on the Disney+ series Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Peter Parker (Hudson Thames) was offered an internship at Oscorp by Norman Osborn (Colman Domingo). His friend Nico Minoru (Grace Song) wasn’t too pleased but supports him anyway. After the football game, they get invited to a party with Lonnie Lincoln (Eugene Byrd) and their schoolmates. Nico waits awkwardly for Peter at the party, but he doesn’t show up. Instead, he’s stuck being the hero while juggling his first day at Oscorp. After defeating a villain who lights a building on fire, he returns to the lab, where he is only taken to Osborn’s office. Norman shows security footage, now knowing his secret… Peter Parker is Spider-Man.
The third episode starts us off with Peter replaying the night over and over again in his head. He’s now freaking out that Norman knows his secret. He is playing video games with Nico, but she can tell he’s stressed about something.
Peter leaves Nico’s house and goes to meet Norman for dinner at Eden. Peter tries to convince that what Norman saw on the cameras was a prank, but Norman says only he has access to the cameras. Peter then hesitantly admits that it’s true. Norman shows him the video of Peter saving the kid, from episode one, who was getting bullied. He tells Peter it was his son Harry who he saved. Since then, he had more of an interest in finding out the identity of Spider-Man.
Norman tells Peter that he and the other three interns at Oscorp were his picks of who he thought was helping Spider-Man. He kept watching all of them until he saw the footage of Peter leaving the lab. Norman asks Peter what he needs to do to help him with his suit. Norman gets excited about helping Peter, but Peter tells him that he wants to do it on his own. He doesn’t want anyone to get in danger. Norman promises him that he won’t tell anyone about his secret.
Next, we see a couple with a duffel bag filled with money. They get a text saying to put the bag in a dumpster. After doing that, the dumpster leaves and they find a briefcase. What could be inside?
As he gets home, Lonnie sees his dad talking to a police officer. His dad tells him to go sit with his mom. His mom tells him that his little brother Andre was vandalizing a building with a gang. Lonnie goes to talk to his brother, only to find that he escaped his bedroom.
We then see the same couple from before. They’re at a jewelry store, revealing that what was in the briefcase were technology-advanced boots for him and hand gloves for her. They end up robbing the store.
Peter is taking a selfie when he hears a radio call about the robbery. Peter goes to defeat the couple. Peter begins to shoot webs at the guy but misses; his shoes make him faster. The girl fights Peter and they circle him, distract him, and push him forcefully on the ground.
Lonnie finds his brother Andre at an abandoned building with his friends. Before they can leave, a man named Big Ben Donovan (Leilani Barrett) stops them. He’s the leader of the 110th Street gang. He tells Lonnie that Andre isn’t going anywhere with him. Lonnie says that he’ll trade himself for Andre, which Big Donovan likes. So, he makes Andre go home.
The episode goes back to Peter, who’s losing the fight. SWAT and the police come to help, but they don’t make the situation any better. Peter hears Norman from his mask. Norman tells him how he can defeat the couple, by looking at the security cameras around the street. Peter finds their weakness successfully dodging the boyfriend.
The power from their shoes and gloves runs out after Peter catches them in his web. After finishing the fight, he shows up at Norman’s office. Peter takes up his offer helping with his suit and his fights. He shakes Norman’s hand saying, “Welcome to the team, Mr. Osborn.”
And as he shakes his hand, Big Donovan shakes Lonnie’s hand and says, “Welcome to the One Ten, Lonnie Lincoln.”
Overall, this was a great episode. It’s interesting to see that Norman wants to help Peter with his Spider-Man stuff, which is a different storyline than what we’ve seen in the past for Peter Parker and Norman Osborn. Although it was brave for Lonnie to stand up for his brother, it’s also intriguing and stressful to only begin to see what he’s gotten himself into. What will Big Donovan make him do?
