Things go all freaky Friday on the latest episode of Wednesday as Enid and the Addams offspring magically switch places. In their pursuit to switch back, they have a run-in with the new Galpin clan. And Wednesday’s premonition shifts, placing someone new in danger.
In an attempt to reclaim her psychic abilities, Wednesday visits the grave of a deceased raven, Professor Rosalind Rotwood, portrayed by Lady Gaga. Speaking an incantation on the tombstone allows her temporary second sight. But an interruption from Enid disrupts the spell, casting each roommate into the opposite’s body. They have 24 hours to reverse the curse, or they will die.
Meanwhile, in the convoluted Galpin storyline, Isaac reunites with Francois and his nephew. Here, we learn that Isaac created the power-siphoning technology to save Francois from death caused by her Hyde ability. After violently stealing a power source, the three return to Willow Hill with plans to extract her powers and save her life. However, the experiment goes awry when they discover Agnes as a stowaway, prompting Wednesday and Enid to save her.
The two best friends accomplish their goal and switch back in the nick of time. While Enid is safe from immediate death, Wednesday’s new premonition finds someone in her family at risk.
This episode was a lot of fun, with Jenna Ortega and Emma Myers doing their best impressions of each other’s characters. Their reconciliation was touching, highlighting the true depth of their friendship. And kudos to Evie Templeton, who has been a delight to watch as Agnes all season long. While the characters were interesting separately, connecting Isaac and Francois as siblings diminishes the mystery that was built up, forcing familial ties that feel a little too on the nose. Fortunately, it may signal a sympathetic arc for Tyler, who has found himself being puppeted by yet another master.
