Continuing through The Paper, Ned and Mare talk about the updates for follow ups from people for stories. Adam then comes into Ned’s office to go over his story, where Ned says that it could be a good story, but he needs to find more sources and gives him pointers. Ned then has the employees practice being able to tell the difference between truth and lie. Ned is discussing with Esmerelda and Ken about how Adam’s story was picked up by the press, but they still need one more story.
Mare brings up how the paper used to do a section called “Shame on You” where they would uncover a business scam and catch them. This brings up a possible false advertising scam about a mattress store. It looks like Esmerelda is trying her lying skills again, saying that Mare is leaving them for a hotel business. He gets a little worried, after which Ned says he’s going to talk to her about it, and Esmerelda mentions his attractions to her, tries to say she’s asexual, just basically a bunch more lies about Mare.
Detrick tries to get permission to do another story from Ned, which is just a way for him to get closer to Nicole. Mare and Ned are parked out front of the mattress store, where they are going to go under cover as a couple, with Ned of course telling her that she doesn’t have to if she’s uncomfortable with it, and tries to say they could be siblings instead (you know, because of the “asexual” lie Esmerelda pushed). We then see them inside talking to a mattress store clerk, albeit awkwardly explaining their situation to try and find mattress, to bust the scam.
Ken, Esmerelda, Oscar, and Marvin have a meeting, where it was obviously a way to try and make Ned look bad, and make it seem like he was too good to attend. Nicole and Detrick seem to be liking each other a bit more in the next scene and are having a full conversation with one another. We come back to the sabotage meeting where Esmerelda and Ned are trying to make the changes disappear, and Oscar obviously is aware of it, but is unable to say anything.
We then return to Ned and Mare at the mattress store, and they talk about, obviously the beds, and Mare gets the suspicion that the mattress lady isn’t coming back. It then seems that maybe Esmerelda was telling the truth, because she gets a call from the hotel guy, which she answers, telling Ned it was her father. Ned then finds the file on the mattress supplier on the desk, which has the number for the company. He then calls them, and asks them to cross check the beds they have the model number of a mattress.
Ken, Esmerelda, Oscar, and Marvin are continuing their back-alley meeting, when Oscar brings up how Innovate has been renting a “storage unit” that’s actually an apartment unit, for nine years. Turns out that Innovate rented Ken an apartment for a couple weeks when he first moved there, and it got filed as a warehouse. After that, Ned and Marre reveal to the mattress lady that they’re reporters and that the Stay cool hybrid firm rest foam is the same model at other locations, meaning it should qualify for the price match guarantee. Detrick tells the camera crew at the office to follow him, where he brings them to Nicole, to show her that he cracked her two truths and a lie thing they did earlier. Then we get to Ned and Mare uploading the story and talking about the company. The end credits scene features Marv and his assistant.

The show does seem to be getting more interesting, but it still isn’t the greatest attention grabber. It’s a little better than the first two, but that’s not by much. Hopefully, once again, the show does continue to keep improving and evolving in the right direction.
