Episode 5 begins with Francis waking up Lee from a drunken slumber, to tell him about Allen’s death. Francis wants to continue helping her father, but Lee won’t let her, because of the dangers of what he’s investigating. After dropping her off at school, Lee heads back to his bookstore to find that an old accomplice of his, who used to own the store with Lee before Lee bought him out, is in his apartment. The frenemy, named Wendell, comes by to talk about doing the traditional party journey they do. Lee fills Wendell in on the Washberg piece, and how the investigation is going. Wendell says he could find the land Lee was looking for in two hours.

Wendell and Lee head to Skiatook to the courthouse to get some papers to find the Indian Head Hills Land. Wendell tries to seduce the lady at the desk to get the papers, and it works. We then see Frank Martin, who we haven’t seen in a while, talking with another guy about his speech at the 46. He also mentions Allen and his death being front-page news.

Lee and Wendell head to a bar to examine the documents. They then head to the location, which has a sign on the property that reads White Elk LLC. After passive-aggressive banter turns into a fight, a truck suddenly pulls up behind Lee’s van in the distance. Two men with machine guns come out of the truck to check the van, then they drive off. Lee and Wendell then head to talk to Vicky, to investigate a possible silent broker.

Vicky calls the guy to get a sales schedule for White Elk LLC, who finds that the land is being sold to a company called One Well, at a price well over the market value. Without any other bids, Lee puts together that it’s to launder a bribe to the future governor. After the 46 speech, Lee and Wendell talk about One Well, when suddenly Phil and two others confront them. Luckily, they are saved by their security.

Lee and Wendell then talk to each other about how they hate and care about each other, and about the death of their friend Jesus. After getting a call from Betty Jo, Lee meets her at a diner, and Betty Jo tells him that Donald threatened her, and she’s scared. Lee tells her to go to this women’s care center to stay hidden from Donald. Lee tells Pearl where her mother is, before he is taken by the Tulsa Police. The police lead him though a house to the backyard, where Donald is waiting to have a chat with him.

This was one of the better episodes of the show. Granted, the show is still kind of overrated, but this was more enjoyable when compared to the previous episode, especially Episode 4. The show is still ok, but it is finally on the right track, and the show is getting better, especially with how the episode doesn’t feel as slow as the others.

Rating 7.5/10

Zach Zucconi: I am a 20-year-old from New Jersey. I graduated with an Associate's of the Arts and am currently in the process of completing my Bachelor's in Communications. I have taken part in the university television station where I was able to act in a show and work behind the scenes. I also have hosted a radio show and have been able to learn the mechanical workings on how the radio shows operate. I have always been interested in different video games growing up and have recently become more interested in movies, film, radio, and screenplay. I have created many characters and have many ideas for different movies, video games, and shows. Besides creating the characters and stories, I believe I would also like to take part in them as well.
