We begin with a recap of previous events, and Lee heads to a gas station and cleans himself up, and goes to see his daughter Francis, his ex-wife and new boyfriend Johnny, giving her the money he owes her. After taking his daughter for the weekend, he drives off and his daughter calls Akron on Lee without him being ready. When Lee asks about Allen, they say that he doesn’t actually work there, but he’s an independent worker. After a scene involving Betty Jo and Donald, Lee confronts his “security” Waylon, and pays his worker at the bookstore, and tells her to watch Francis for a little while, and tells Waylon and his buddy to get rid of the car.
After confronting the waitress about Marty, he gets a call from Cyrus, telling him to get over there. When he meets Cyrus, Cyrus tells him it was the skinheads, and how he was kidnapped and rescued by Marty. Lee then goes and meets a woman named Bonnie, and talks about seeing Berta, and a guy named Blackie (Bonnie’s son) who Lee knew in prison. After meeting some guy named Phil who’s in the house as well, he asks about Blackie and what he said about Allen, and that he can help him if he’s still alive. After Dale’s daughter comes to visit with Betty Jo, and father daughter talk between Lee and Francis, we cut to the church where Dale’s funeral is happening. Lee of course is there, and of course, Marty is at the funeral too.
Marty finally gets to reveal to Lee that he’s a private investigator, and that Donald Washberg is paying him. When Donald wanders away from the recession to the bathroom, Lee follows him in, and gives him a card, and they have a passive aggressive discussion about the article. After a confrontation between Lee and Donald, Marty gets him out of there, and they have a little discussion about Dale and Donald. After we see a snippet of Waylon and Henry’s little music video, Allen pays a visit to Lee’s bookstore, asking about Lee, when he arrives at the store, and tells Francis and his employee to leave, so they can talk. Francis doesn’t listen, and hangs around to hear the conversation, after which Allen gives Lee his business card, and he heads out.
Again, still not that great, but a little interesting. Around the same as the last episode, maybe slightly better, as there were some moments that made it a little better, but not a whole lot. While it still isn’t the most incredible show, the slight improvement brings hope that the next episodes in the show will be something.
