Review: ‘The Beast in Me’ Season 1, Episode 7 “Ghosts”

Nearly at the end, we flashback to 2019, with the FBI pulling up on a plane and arresting the occupants. Leading the FBI on this case is Brian Abbott. They find dirty money hidden in the seats. We then finally see Madison, who is with Nile at a Christmas Party, meeting his allies. Brian then arrests one of Niles’ friends, Pedro, for illegal transport of currency. Nile then tells Martin that Pedro was using cartel money for the Jarvis Yards payments, and there is likely someone from his party working with Abbott.

Nile tells Nick Ryder to turn himself in and take the fall for everyone, in exchange for higher pay and a point in Jarvis Yards. Uncle Rick then talks to Erika at the park about helping her and Frank (who’s currently in deep shit for negligent construction), in exchange for a favor.

Brian meets with Madison, revealing her as the mole, who asks how close he is to arresting Nile. Brian lets her know that Ryder turned himself in and made a full confession. Brian then tells her that the supervisor will pull the plug on the case unless she testifies as a witness, which causes her to break down and say that Nile will kill her. She then tells Brian about people who angered Nile, who mysteriously wound up dead.

Nile confronts Nina, Madison’s then-assistant,  about being a possible informant; she spills the beans and tells him Madison is the one feeding Brian info. Nile then confronts Madison, which results in him killing her. After Nile shows Martin and Rick Maddy’s body, they wind up helping him dispose of the body. We then see Aggie watching the news of Madison’s disappearance, before being interrupted by Shelley and Cooper.

This is probably one of the better episodes so far. There might be a few nitpicks here and there. For example, they may have jumped between different events at certain points in the episode a little fast, but it wasn’t too bad. Also, during the scene where Nile was bludgeoning Maddy, there is this editing choice where it cuts to the different paintings in the gallery with each strike. It was an interesting choice, but for some reason, it just felt off. Maybe it just made it feel less brutal and had less of an impact, though you can see what they were trying to do.

Zach Zucconi: I am a 20-year-old from New Jersey. I graduated with an Associate's of the Arts and am currently in the process of completing my Bachelor's in Communications. I have taken part in the university television station where I was able to act in a show and work behind the scenes. I also have hosted a radio show and have been able to learn the mechanical workings on how the radio shows operate. I have always been interested in different video games growing up and have recently become more interested in movies, film, radio, and screenplay. I have created many characters and have many ideas for different movies, video games, and shows. Besides creating the characters and stories, I believe I would also like to take part in them as well.
