Episode 2 begins with the news report of Teddy’s suicide. Aggie pulls up to the crime scene and gets accused by Teddy’s mother of making him do it, before driving off. Aggie then researches the FBI New York Office and calls to speak with Agent Brian Abbott. She tells Brian that she believes Nile Jarvis was involved in the recent incident, and he agrees to meet her at Central Park.
At Central Park, Aggie tells him about the alleged suicide, the connection to Nile’s wife’s disappearance, and her discussion with Nile about Teddy. Brian is hesitant to help and tells her again to keep her distance from Nile.
Aggie then heads to Brickner Publishing to talk with Carol about how no one wants the book she’s making, and she lied about her progress on it. She then tells her about her idea to talk to Nile Jarvis and write about him.
Agatha then visits Nile, and talks with him about the protestors of Jarvis Yards. She then flat-out asks if he killed his wife. He tells her he didn’t. She then suggests writing about him. After some prodding and convincing talk, Nile finally tells her he’ll think about it. After Nile’s wife, Nina, invites Aggie for a hike, Rick, Nile’s guard, breaks into Aggie’s home.
Nina then tells Aggie that Nile didn’t kill his wife, Maddie. She explains that Maddie was unwell, and she, Nile, and the family kept it all out of the press.
Aggie returns home with Rick still in the house, who leaves unseen. Aggie then gets a call from Nile, who tells her that he agrees to be interviewed. Aggie then calls Brian and tells him that Jarvis agreed to the interview. The episode closes with FBI agent Erika Benton, Brian’s boss and lover, being ordered in a car by Rick. The two drive off.
This episode brings in another potential conflict. For example, at the end, when Rick tells Erika to get in the car, she says she’s “done with you people.” Rick also knew about her husband and kids, so does this mean that she or her husband might have been involved? It’s something to think about. Overall, this was another good episode. There may have been a scene that went on for a little too long — Nile is eating chicken — but overall, a solid episode.
