We start this journey with a flashback to a crime scene. We then see Aggie attempting to write another book, when she meets the neighbors after their dogs escape to her home. Aggie goes to the house, where her neighbor Stan tells her about the new resident, Nile Jarvis, to her shock.
Aggie researches Nile Jarvis, where we learn he was a suspect in the murder of his wife but was never charged for it. The next morning, Aggie goes to the Jarvis residence, and speaks with Nina about the dogs and the wine gift Nina invites her in, and they have a quick chat. Nile interrupts their conversation, to ask if she wants to talk about giving him permission to clear the forest for a personal walking trail for everyone.
Aggie goes upstairs, and talks with him about his intrusive security alarm, and the dogs. Nile still tries to get her to sign for the woods trail, she tells him no, and gets angered by him mentioning her dead son, after which she leaves. The next morning, Nile comes to her Aggie’s home and asks if she would sign a copy of one of her books. She obliges, and he asks if he could take her to lunch. After some hesitation, she agrees to meet him there.
At the restaurant, the two talk about their lives, and the next book Aggie will write. Nile thinks her story is boring, and suggests that she write a book about him and his story, and tries to bribe her for the personal trail. After Aggie tells him about how her son died (a drunk driver struck her car, but didn’t get charged) Nile confronts a woman for secretly taking a photo of him. That night, FBI agent Brian Abbott visits Aggie’s home to tell her to be careful and keep her distance from Nile. The next morning, Aggie gets a call from her ex Shelley, who tells her Teddy Fenig, the man responsible for her son’s death, killed himself the other night. She then makes the sudden realization that Nile may be involved in Teddy’s death.
This was an alright start to the series. It wasn’t too fast, and it wasn’t slow either, a good balance. The first episode gives away the idea that he may have killed his wife, because of the possible connection to Teddy’s suicide, but that’s just a possibility (maybe the bodyguard too). Once again, it’s a decent start.
