Review: ‘The Bad Batch’ Season 3 Episode 8 “Bad Territory”

In Season 3, Episode 8 of the Disney Plus series The Bad Batch, titled “Bad Territory,”  the narrative unfolds as the Bad Batch (voiced by Dee Bradley Baker) and Omega (voiced by Michelle Ang) return to Pabu. Their next objective is to uncover why Dr. Hemlock and the Empire are interested in Omega for their M-count experiment. They are later contacted by their pirate ally, Phee Genoa (voiced by Wanda Sykes), who informs them that certain class-one bounty hunters have been procuring M-count targets for the Empire. Consequently, the Bad Batch must obtain information about the M-count from a bounty hunter. Omega suggests Fennec Shand (voiced by Ming-Na Wen) as she is the most reasonable bounty hunter they know. Hunter and Wrecker set out to find Fennec, while Crosshair remains behind to watch over Omega. Despite Omega’s desire to join them, Hunter insists she stay in Pabu due to her status as one of the Empire’s most-wanted targets. However, he advises her to assist Crosshair with his hand issues during their absence.

Hunter and Wrecker rendezvous with Fennec at an undisclosed space station, where she admits to not having information on the M-count but knows a bounty hunter who likely does. Fennec strikes a deal with the duo: she’ll introduce them to the bounty hunter in exchange for their help in capturing her current target, Sylar Saris. The trio tracks Saris to a swampy planet, overcoming numerous obstacles to apprehend him. Following the successful hunt, Shand promises to contact Hunter and Wrecker regarding the bounty hunter who possesses knowledge of the M-count after delivering Saris to her client. Subsequently, Shand communicates with the bounty hunter, presumably Ventress, through an encrypted transmission.

Meanwhile, at Pabu, AZI-3 (voiced by Ben Diskin) examines Crosshair’s hand and concludes that it may never fully heal due to its origin as a mental issue, stemming from the traumatic experimentation conducted on him in Mount Tantiss. Omega believes that meditation could alleviate Crosshair’s condition and proceeds to teach him, drawing inspiration from the teachings of the Wookiee Jedi Padawan Gungi, a survivor of Order 66 now residing on Kashyyyk. The Bad Batch had previously aided Gungi and the Wookiees of Kashyyyk in Season 2 against Imperial and Trandoshan invaders.
