Review: ‘The Bad Batch’ Season 3 Episode 13 “Into the Breach”

In Season 3, Episode 13 of the Disney Plus series The Bad Batch, titled “Into the Breach,”  the narrative unfolds at Mount Tantiss with Omega (Michelle Ang) meeting the force-sensitive test subjects: Eva (Olwyn M. Whelan), Jax (Ivan Sinitsin), Sami (Naiya Singh Padilla), and Bayrn (Shelby Young). The test subjects, aside from Bayrn, who is still a baby, are uncomfortable with their situation and really want to go home. Later, Dr. Emerie Karr (Keisha Castle-Hughes) does a sample check on Omega, who secretly steals one of Emerie’s tools. Dr. Karr returns to the vault’s watchtower, overseeing the test subjects, until Dr. Scalder (Helen Sadler) expresses disapproval of allowing Omega to interact with the children. Still, Karr rebuffs it since the children are under tight security.

It turns out Dr. Scalder’s fears are affirmed when Omega secretly asks Eva, Jax, and Sami for information on the test sample and the guard movement routines. The information is useless, but it doesn’t stop Omega from disclosing her plan to escape Tantiss again along with them. Omega uses the tool she stole from Emerie to open a weak wall in her room that leads to a shaft, which she later closes before Dr. Scalder arrives due to the latter’s suspicion of the young clone. With a shaft located behind Omega’s room’s wall confirmed, Omega shares the information with the rest of the children, revealing a possible escape route they could use in the future.

At an unknown location, the Bad Batch (Dee Bradley Baker), with Rampart (Noshir Dalal) as their prisoner, rendezvous with Echo (Dee Bradley Baker), who picks them up on a stolen ship. Rampart explains that any ship going to Tantiss must first dock at Imperial Station 003, which is in orbit over Coruscant, where the coordinates are sent directly via the navicomputer. The plan is for the Bad Batch to disguise themselves as security detail, with Rampart as the disguised Imperial captain due to his experience in knowing how Imperial leaders conduct their business. Rampart is frustrated at being forced into the situation since it will likely get him killed.

Soon, the Bad Batch arrive at the Imperial orbital station, and Rampart does well in helping them get inside and pass through several security checkpoints thanks to his Imperial demeanor. Although they manage to get into the control room, the navicomputers don’t have the coordinates for Tantiss, as the information is only uploaded to a science ship en route to the location. Thus, the Bad Batch have to sneak Echo onto a departing science ship to shut down its proximity sensors before attaching their own ship onto the science ship’s hull without any notice. In the end, the mission is a success, and the Bad Batch are en route to Tantiss.
