Previously on Prime Video’s Sterling Point, Annie hosts a surprise party for Ramona as a thank-you for letting her stay there. Rory kisses Annie, and Ramona almost kisses Oona. Annie reaches out to Joe to learn more about her mom, Goldie. While it’s not very successful, she gives Joe the tape she found in one of Goldie’s boxes. At night, Connor surprises Annie by showing up at the house unannounced.
The episode begins with Connor trying to convince Annie and Ramona why they should sell Sterling Point, but neither of them listens. Connor makes Annie pitch why they shouldn’t sell. Her pitch isn’t good, so she decides to give Connor a week to think about it, and after the week is over, they’ll have a conversation about the decision. This is a lie, as Annie tells Ramona that there’s no way they’d ever sell.
At the cafe, Oona and Maple, Oona’s little sister, talk to Ellis about Annie. He tells them that he saw her kiss Rory at the party, but Oona tells him not to let that stop him from expressing his feelings. Annie, Ramona, and Connor come in and take a seat, with Connor introducing himself. Ellis pulls Ramona to the side to talk. Ellis tells her that Gordon’s lawyer called asking for his dad. Ramona tells him she’s not sure what’s going on, but informs him that she, Annie, and Connor all own the island.
Annie learned that Goldie liked cliff jumping, so she got everyone together to do so. Ellis stays behind to avoid seeing Annie with Rory. Annie doesn’t feel comfortable jumping off the cliff, so Rory takes her to the sauna. Meanwhile, Connor mentions how he can tell Ramona likes Oona. Ramona says it could never work, as they’re best friends and Oona doesn’t do relationships.
In the sauna, Rory asks how Annie’s doing, being in this complicated situation. She tells him that she keeps thinking about “What ifs” surrounding her mom and what would have happened if Goldie was in their lives. Rory tells her that she shouldn’t apologize for having feelings, and they kiss.
Later, Oona asks Ramona to the town movie event. While Oona’s picking out an outfit, Maple tells her to be careful with Ramona and make it clear what it is she wants from her.
Ellis meets Annie at the event, and they decide to get a portrait painting. Ellis tells her, “I like being near you,” and he receives the sentiment back. The two of them hold each other’s pinkies. Meanwhile, Rory and his friend, Lincoln, notice the two.
Ramona gets drunk from Connor’s flask and begins venting about Oona. Ramona goes to use the restroom, and she sees Oona eating with Stacey. She makes a fool of herself, being mean to Stacey, making her walk away. Oona grabs Ramona and pulls her to the side. Ramona brings up the almost kiss, which Oona denies ever happened, lying to her face. Ramona cries and leaves.
Annie and Ellis sit together as Lincoln and Rory join them. Annie can immediately tell Ellis’ mood has changed. Lincoln, who’s drunk, says something that offends Ellis, and he walks away, with Annie following behind before Rory can say anything.
Annie and Ellis eventually meet up with Connor and Ramona. The four of them return home, and Joe greets them off the boat. Joe tells Ellis to take Ramona inside and to stay with them for the night. Connor walks with them, leaving Annie with Joe alone. Joe judges Annie and Connor for allowing Ramona to get drunk. He tells her, “This is exactly what Gordon was afraid of.” Annie yells that she doesn’t believe that he and her mother didn’t have any contact for years. Joe gets frustrated, and he tells her that it’s not his place to tell her how Goldie died.
Joe tells Annie the truth about what happened to Goldie— she died while giving birth to Ramona. All this time, Annie thought she died from cancer. When she asks how he knows, he tells her that he was there with her.
A theme that stands out in this episode is one-sided love. It’s clear that both Ellis and Ramona like Annie and Oona. But they’re both hesitant and scared to say anything. They feel like the feelings aren’t mutual, especially Ramona. She knows that Oona isn’t ready for commitment, but what she doesn’t realize is that Oona wants to be with her; she’s just scared and avoidant.
Overall, this was a really good episode with a very good plot twist at the end. Amélie Hoeferle and Keen Ruffalo did incredible jobs as Ramona and Connor. The two estranged siblings immediately click and build a connection. Now that we know the truth about Goldie and how she died, how does Joe come into play with Ramona, Annie, and Connor? Is he Ramona’s biological father?
