Review: ‘Squid Game’ Season 2, Episode 6 “O X”

Previously on the Netflix series Squid Game, Gi-hun (Lee Jung-Jae) and In-ho (Lee Byung-hun) showed good leadership with their team after winning the second game. Jun-ho (Wi Ha-Joon), Woo-Seok (Jun Suk-ho), and their military crew resume their plan of finding the island. At the end of the episode, the players were introduced to their next game, Mingle. As a recap, the game goes like this; all of the players have to stand on a platform in the center of the arena while the platform spins. A number will then get called out and the players must match it as they separate from their teams and get inside a room in time enough before getting eliminated.

Several rounds have passed, leaving many players dead.  When the number goes to three, Geum-Ja and Yong-Sik are split up. luckily, before the mother is left for good, In-ho and Gi-hun quickly grab her, taking her to one of the rooms.

Young-mi gets left as she bumps into someone and before she can get up and run to the room with the rest of the group, Player 333 takes her spot, closing the door behind him. Hyun-Ju gets emotional as she watches her friend get killed.

In the final round, two is the number announced. In-ho runs to a room and pulls one guy out, having Jung-bae get inside. As they both are inside the room, there’s another guy, so In-ho puts him in a chokehold, killing him so that the number isn’t wrong.

The prize money has now increased to over 300 million won. The voting begins and they just need six players who said O last time to vote X.

Jun-ho and the crew find something on an island that could be a lead, so they check it out. They find a blue door that goes underneath the rocks. As one of the guys opens the door, a bomb goes off killing him.

Next, we go back to the voting. In-ho votes last and the results are tied 50/50. This means they will have to vote all over again the next day.

In the restroom, tension begins to run high as Thanos (Choi Seung-Hyun) threatens Min-Su (Lee David) and Lee Myung-gi (Yim Siwan). Min-Su hides in one of the stalls as Lee Myung-gi tells Thanos to leave him alone. Quickly, they begin to fight as Thanos brings up Jun-Hee, saying that he will take all Myung-gi’s money and his “girl” away from him.

Thanos puts his hand around his throat as he pushes him on the ground and before Myung-gi passes out, he stabs Thanos in the throat with a metal fork.

Overall, this episode went by quicker than the others, but it was still filled with a lot of tension and action. It’s upsetting to see Young-Mi gone, but that’s how the game goes. Will they be able to get enough voters for the last voting round? What’s to come in the season finale?
