Continuing on, episode 3 starts with JD again showing his interns a patient and asking them about the differentials of a patient. He then has a run in with Elliot, who questions him about changing the orders on a patient.
Carla then talks with Elliot, telling her that she and JD are letting their anger from their relationship bubble up, and that she has to relax. Afterwards, JD is told by the Interns that they are always going to get criticisms throughout their careers, especially with new doctor rating apps, and that they have to let it slide. Despite this, JD looks at some of his own reviews, sees some negative ones, and once again, gets a lecture from Elliot, who questions him about an email to discharge her patient.
Elliot later makes a deal with a tech guy to do a software update to cause the medical records to go down for several hours to help the old patient. JD and Turk then go to try and talk with Raffi the tech guy and confront him about tampering with the hospitals network. Turk tells Raffi that he is revoking his Amulet of Irzod, since he’s the Dungeon Master of their Dungeons and Dragons campaign. Raffi confesses that Elliot told him to do it, so JD goes to confront her about it.
After Dashana attempts to convince Turk to give Amara the chance to train with the robot again, Elliot and JD talk again about the patient, and their relationship. After the patient reunites with her estranged husband, JD and Elliot start getting along better, and even hang out with Carla and Turk for a couple’s night.
Still not great, but it seems like this episode wasn’t as bad as the first two. The daydreaming sequences came back again. They didn’t come up until the later parts of the episode, so you would think that they would take a break from them, but no, they made a return. It’s something about those scenes. Maybe once every now and then might be alright (they’d still be annoying with the way they do it, but at least it wouldn’t be happening as frequently). However, it keeps happening, and it just feels so out of place, and not in a good way. The sound effects weren’t as bad as before, but they still aren’t this great addition to the show. Overall, it slightly improved, but not enough to be that good.
