Things come to a head when Charlie’s attempt to rectify the situation backfires, resulting in a heated showdown between Vox and the high angels of Heaven. Episode 5, “Silenced”, merges our two narratives into one, pushing the conflict to a fever pitch.
With the news of Alastor’s imprisonment, the Vees become the talk of Pentagram City. A thrilling opening number kicks off the episode, showering the three overlords with praise. As their street cred rises, Vox allows it to go to his head and centers himself over Valentino and Velvette. Mostly to quiet the brutally honest critique from Alastor, who knows just how insecure Vox remains on the inside.
Meanwhile, Charlie desperately attempts to reach Emily, to no avail. Vaggie does her best to persuade Charlie to stop fixating on this dilemma, but she can’t help herself. Thinking she can help Charlie, Vaggie recruits Lucifer to intimidate Vox into backing off. Of course, Lucifer quickly obliges, especially after Vaggie mentions how Alastor is no longer around to wield his power.

Up in Heaven, Emily convinces Sera and the higher angels to venture to Hell and apologize for their past transgressions. Upon Pentious’s advice, they agree to bring gift baskets as an olive branch.
Both Lucifer and the Angels interrupt Vox’s pep rally, with devastating repercussions. Vox does what he does best, spinning the narrative to fit his agenda. He convinces the crowd that Heaven’s good faith tokens pale in comparison to the genocide they’ve imposed on sinners for years through their exterminations. Instead of making amends, Hell declares War, leaving Charlie beside herself.

This act pushes Charlie to the brink, lashing out at her father and Vaggie. She — again — tries to reach her mother Lilith. The call is ignored.
Episode 5 is another excellent entry in the series, refocusing on the major plot between the two realms. It also showcases the nuance in this disagreement. As terrible as Vox is, one cannot argue that Heaven’s attempt to apologize was not worthy of the damage they inflicted upon the people of Hell. Vox is justified in harboring those feelings; however, if he wanted to make amends, he would allow Heaven grace to do so. Instead, he wants to inflict the same tyranny on them that they experienced. This will lead to destruction every time.
With only three episodes left, it will be interesting to see where the story leads.
