To begin our Truffle Trouble, we see some romance between Leela and Fry, for some reason sitting on top of Bender, who’s annoyed and wants them to go. After suggesting Bender needs to get out more, she decides she wants to try an expensive restaurant with Fry. Of course, Bender already booked a reservation for the three of them to go, crashing their date. After being convinced by Chef Elzar and Bender to try the truffles, which they enjoy a little too much, the bill comes out to be 30 grand, and the robot mafia offers to pay Fry’s tab. Back at the Planet Express, Bender, Leela, and Fry are still obsessing about the truffles, and we watch an educational video that explains what a truffle is and the truffle belt in space.

Bender dresses up like a Frenchman and goes to the Truffle Belt to try to acquire some. At the truffle belt, when Bender fails to convince the other people to lend him a pig (which can talk on the Truffle Belt), he goes to the auctioneer to get one. Without any money, the auctioneer lends Bender a small, underdog pig, whom he names Jambone. While trying to find some truffles, Bender and Jambone stumble onto people harvesting extreme numbers of the truffles, which prompts them to try to step up their game to find some. Bender and Jambone manage to find one truffle, which is worth $3,000, and receive a cut from the Truffle Cartel of only $10.

With Bender ready to leave in shame, Jambone smells truffles somewhere above, and the old man at the Truffle Cartel building explains the location as being an extremely remote asteroid in the belt, they may not return, and that there may be nothing on the asteroid at all. After landing on the asteroid, Bender accidentally discovers that the asteroid is just a cluster of trees, where truffles would be. After accidentally falling, Jambone starts finding truffles left and right, and then, the robot mafia pays a visit to Planet Express to collect Fry’s debt.

On the asteroid, Bender and Jambone run into trouble with a leafy tree dragon, and are saved by Fry, who is with the robot mafia. The robot mafia takes the truffles, and the debt is now paid off. Bender releases Jambone to the planet to frolic in its soft, leafy surface, and after leaving the planet, we get a glimpse at the Glutties (glutton award ceremony), where it’s revealed that Jambone ate the truffles in the crate, and he wins the glutton award.

Honestly, this was one of the weaker episodes of this season. It wasn’t inherently bad per se, but it didn’t bring as many laughs as the previous episodes did. This one was ok, but definitely not at the top of the list for this season.

Zach Zucconi: I am a 20-year-old from New Jersey. I graduated with an Associate's of the Arts and am currently in the process of completing my Bachelor's in Communications. I have taken part in the university television station where I was able to act in a show and work behind the scenes. I also have hosted a radio show and have been able to learn the mechanical workings on how the radio shows operate. I have always been interested in different video games growing up and have recently become more interested in movies, film, radio, and screenplay. I have created many characters and have many ideas for different movies, video games, and shows. Besides creating the characters and stories, I believe I would also like to take part in them as well.
