Previously on Showtime’s Dexter: Resurrection, Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) finally introduces Harrison (Jack Alcott) to Blessing (Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine) and his family, as they celebrate the life of Blessing’s mother. Dexter kills Gareth (David Dastmalchian), only to find out that he killed the wrong twin. Before Detective Claudette (Kadia Saraf) and Angel (David Zayas) talk to Mia (Krysten Ritter), she’s found dead in her cell.

This episode begins with Leon Prater (Peter Dinklage) and the crew, including Gareth, Al (Eric Stonestreet), Dexter, and Charley (Uma Thurman), at a mansion. Leon tells the group about Mia’s death, and Al is heartbroken, while Dexter and Gareth show no emotion.

Harrison and Elsa (Emilia Suárez) spend time together with Elsa’s son. Harrison tells her that he and Dexter have been bonding and that he’s been thinking about going back to school. She tells him that she knows someone who can help him with going to school for criminology. Harrison texts Dexter, letting him know that he’s thinking about going to college.

Back at the mansion, Al does his show and tell for Leon and the crew. Leon shows them a video of one of his kills. He’s pretending to be hurt as he attacks his victim. While watching the footage, Dexter feels disgusted, saying to himself, “They all need to die.”

After Al’s presentation, it’s time for Dexter’s. Although he doesn’t show off anything, he does talk about his feelings as a serial killer and the person he has to hide from in the real world.

Angel is frustrated that Claudette and her partner, Detective Melvin Oliva (Dominic Fumasa), won’t fully believe that Dexter has anything to do with the murder of Ryan or that he has any relation to Mia. Claudette mentions that the only thing the police found without Mia’s fingerprints was Ryan’s watch.

Dexter is asked to speak with Leon. Leon says that Dexter’s presentation was “spectacular.” Leon shares with him how his life was once his parents died, saying that he wrote a letter to the man who killed them. The killer hit Leon’s parents’ car on purpose, wanting to hurt someone that night. Leon gives Dexter the first letter that the murderer gave to him, saying that Dexter deserved to have it as a token of his respect and admiration.

Angel goes to Dexter’s home, finding he’s not there. He introduces himself to Blessing, letting him know he’s a friend from Miami. Blessing is happy to meet a friend of Dexter’s, telling him that he’s practically like family.

Dexter sits with Gareth and tells him that he knows his secret. He tells Gareth that he killed his brother last night, and Gareth lashes out, breaking a wine glass and swinging it toward Dexter. He tells Gareth that he kills serial killers before stabbing Gareth with the glass. As Gareth is dying, Dexter yells for help. Charley and Al both run over. Dexter lies, saying that Gareth was going to take out him, Al, and Lowell (Neil Patrick Harris). Leon believes him, saying that he knew he had some entitled thoughts.

As Dexter and the crew return to the city, Harrison attends a college fair. Dexter rushes to meet him at the school, and they are both surprised to run into Claudette, who is giving a lecture on the New York Ripper.

When the lecture is over, Claudette stops Harrison and Dexter, introducing herself to Dexter. Harrison tells Claudette that he wants to become a cop, being interested while witnessing how Claudette has been handling Ryan’s case. Claudette mentions meeting  Angel, and Dexter explains how  Angel spiraled after finding out that James Doakes was the Bay Harbor Butcher.

Dexter gets a “proud dad” hat in support of Harrison. Harry (James Remar) says that he’s proud of him, being so supportive of Harrison’s decision. After leaving, Dexter tells Harrison that he’s not worried about Angel.

When Dexter gets back home, he puts Gareth’s blood on a lab strip, adding it to his collection. He hears music playing from Blessing’s home and realizes Angel is there. He rushes upstairs, acting surprised and happy to see his old friend. Dexter offers Angel a ride back to where he’s staying. The car ride is quiet, filled with tension. Dexter tells him to stay away from him, Harrison, and Blessing. Before exiting the car, Angel places a tracker inside.

Overall, this was a good episode. Peter Dinklage has done an incredible job as Leon Prater, the mysterious yet smart billionaire who is obsessed with serial killers. It’s clear that he truly admires Dexter’s work as Red. It was exciting to see Dexter killing Gareth, right after telling him that he killed his twin brother. Angel putting a tracking device in Dexter’s car was no surprise, knowing he wants to get as much dirt on his old friend as possible. What’s next to happen in the 8th episode? Will Dexter do his last kill on Al?
