As the White Rabbit passes through the portal, he comes face-to-face with a demon resembling Sparda. This demon adds its blood to the amulet, revealing that this is Dante’s brother. Even though he added his blood, they still need Dante’s. As the White Rabbit takes his leave, he makes note of how this demon has both Sparda’s sword and amulet piece, thoroughly amused.
Mary and Dante regain consciousness after leaping from the bombed building. Both the demons and Darkcom’s team are dead. The two realize that the Rabbit is willing to kill as many as he needs to succeed. Mary shoots and detains Dante, as he is the key to the portal. Mary makes this her fight, leaving Dante to hide.
The White Rabbit patiently waits for Dante’s arrival. If he doesn’t arrive on time, they’ll begin a war. The Rabbit acknowledges Mary’s interference, though he is unbothered by her attempt to shut down his operation.
Mary makes her way to the frontlines, aiming to compromise. She wants to trade Dante’s life for the city and the amulet. She points out what the Rabbit’s done to his own people; chemical testing his people for his agenda. Embarrassed, the Rabbit agrees and makes the trade. Mary quickly betrays this promise, making it seem as though Dante is dead as she clicks the detonation button. The demons attack her, leaving her poisoned and paralyzed by their venom.

Dante makes his return, ready to fight. The White Rabbit takes this moment to explain that DARKCOM is killing innocent beings, keeping their paradise to themselves. To witness this, Dante enters the portal with the Rabbit.
Dante gags at the poisoned air in the demon realm. Despite this, Dante predicts human genocide, as demons are stronger than humans. The Rabbit explains that he would ultimately save more lives and must correct Sparda’s mistake. Dante refuses, commencing a battle with the Rabbit’s team of demons.

As Dante’s fight takes place within the other dimension, Mary and the Rabbit begin their own conflict. Mary accuses him of using the other demons to fight for his hatred of DARKCOM. He denies this, revealing he’s human and a demon, and wishes to fight for those whom DARKCOM has murdered. Her group left him crippled, and only demon blood keeps him going. Before he could kill her, Dante reemerged from the portal. As he fights the other demon, he turns off the portal, cutting the demon in half.
Dante and the Rabbit have a short-lived battle before Dante quickly overpowers him. The Rabbit warns him that he could’ve saved so many lives if he just listened. With this warning, the Rabbit allows himself to fall into the water below, suggesting his death.

Episode 7 reveals a turning point in Devil May Cry Season 1, packed with layered character motives and thematic contrasts. The White Rabbit is no longer just a mysterious antagonist; his identity as a human turned demon shows humanity’s cruelty. By using Sparda’s weapons, he signals a legacy battle, not just between bloodlines, but ideologies as well. At the same time, Mary’s betrayal during negotiations adds to the story’s morally gray tone, revealing the lengths she’s willing to go to protect humanity, even if it means deceit and sacrifice.
Meanwhile, Dante’s journey through the demon realm is a confrontation with harsh realities. His recognition of a potential human genocide speaks volumes about the conflict’s scope, highlighting that the true war isn’t just external but ideological: survival vs. domination. The final clash between Dante and the Rabbit is tragic, making his words linger as a moral dilemma rather than a victory for the humans. Overall, this episode reshapes the series’s foundation, layering moral compromises and the blurred lines of heroism. This episode was pivotal for the series and one of the most emotionally charged of the season. Audiences may expect a new beginning and revelations in the finale episode, as Dante’s brother could make a reappearance.
