Review: ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2, Episode 3 “The Scales & the Sword”

Episode 3 of season 2, Daredevil and Karen interrogate a Task Force member, the governor confronts Kingpin, and Karen and Daredevil execute their plan to hit Kingpin where it hurts.

This episode, once again, is not better nor worse than the previous episodes. The pacing was alright, and we got another decent action scene. The focus was still on some of the other characters, though Daredevil got more of a chance to shine. Just like predicted from the previous review, there were other characters that came in to help.

An interesting thing about episode 3 is while there definitely was a feeling of tension, it didn’t feel as dire for some reason as, let’s say, Hector’s trial from season one. Don’t get it twisted, you still feel some tension, like that something bad could happen, but it just didn’t feel like it was there as much. It is nice to see a few more fight scenes.

Maybe in the next coming episodes, the edge of your seat feeling will become stronger, but right now, it still hasn’t fully kicked in yet. It would be disappointing if the heart doesn’t start to race, especially as the season reaches its conclusion. The ending was kind of crazy, though it wasn’t extremely high levels of crazy.

Overall, the episode was still good, managing to remain entertaining while showing us more of Daredevil and him working with allies. The action still delivers. While the tension could be leveled up a bit, there’s still room to grow as we’re early in the season. Episode 3 also shifts the narrative with a surprising ending that will hopefully ignite the latter episodes into high gear. This season is on track to replicate the success of the first.

I have taken part in the university television station where I was able to act in a show and work behind the scenes. I also have hosted a radio show and have been able to learn the mechanical workings on how the radio shows operate. I have always been interested in different video games growing up and have recently become more interested in movies, film, radio, and screenplay. I have created many characters and have many ideas for different movies, video games, and shows. Besides creating the characters and stories, I believe I would also like to take part in them as well.
