Review: ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2, Episode 4 “Gloves Off”

This next episode sees more Task Force members taken out by a certain someone. Karen and some other friends continue efforts against the Task Force, and Daredevil tracks down a familiar face.

The opening scene was pretty cool and funny with how it was executed. This episode also explained a bit more about why Fisk was doing his fight, though it still gives the impression that there’s more to it (trying to give himself a better image, or some kind of way to get money into some other illegal operation). After the beginning scene, the episode was a bit slower than the previous episodes. It wasn’t a drag or boring, but it definitely felt slower than episodes 1-3. However, as the episode went on, especially toward the last 20-some-odd minutes, it picked up, and was so far the most exciting episode.

The tension was a bit higher in the episode than the last one, especially when it got to the Fisk fight. It didn’t fully get the heart going though, but the dread/tension increased from before. A character who was in episode one appeared again, so the prediction from review one was further proven. How much more of a role this character might play will have to be seen later.

Though the episode’s closing was a bit predictable, it was still surprising that it happened. One final thing to mention, however, is that a certain character has been missing from the show. Maybe they will come back in a future episode, but for now, they are just mentioned.

Overall, this episode so far was one of the most exciting. The opening scene was funny and cool with the way it was done. The episode felt a little slower than the previous episodes, but definitely found a better rhythm later. Comparing this episode to the previous, you can clearly see an increase in the tension.

Zach Zucconi: I am a 20-year-old from New Jersey. I graduated with an Associate's of the Arts and recently graduated with a Bachelor's in Communications. I have taken part in the university television station where I was able to act in a show and work behind the scenes. I also have hosted a radio show and have been able to learn the mechanical workings on how the radio shows operate. I have always been interested in different video games growing up and have recently become more interested in movies, film, radio, and screenplay. I have created many characters and have many ideas for different movies, video games, and shows. Besides creating the characters and stories, I believe I would also like to take part in them as well.
