Episode 7 of Prime Video’s Bosch: Legacy finds Harry digging deeper into the murder of Detective Jimmy Robertson. As DA Chandler prepares charges against Diego Perra, Maddie and Reina come to terms with the identity of the third jewelry thief.
The episode opens with Perra’s arraignment hearing, as the DA’s office announces its charges against the alleged cop killer. Honey Chandler arrives on the opposite side of the courtroom and announces they’re bringing six counts of armed robbery against Perra. The room filled with officers is in disbelief. Honey assures the public her office needs time to build an airtight case against Perra. This involves questioning Perra’s girlfriend, who says she heard someone possibly enter the home through a screen door the night of the murder.
While building a stronger case, Chandler is visited by City Councilman Patrick Curry. While the visit seems innocent, Curry’s intentions have yet to be revealed.
Meanwhile, Officer Reina Vasquez takes an unexpected PTO. She removes incriminating pages from the frequency call log and meets her nephew, Albert Torres. In the park, she confronts him about the phone calls and his relations with Nestor Gomez and Victoria “Fortune” Hernandez. He lies to her face, denying any involvement in their alleged criminal activity.
Reina follows her gut and asks her sister about Albert’s recent activity. Besides not knowing he had a girlfriend, she says he’s been visiting their grandfather in the nursing home. Reina visits him and finds stolen merchandise hidden in his hatbox.
Later, Maddie and a fellow officer trail Nestor to a nearby drugstore, where he meets Albert. Maddie snaps a photo of the third assailant. Back at the station, she identifies Albert through Nestor’s Instagram photos. After looking him up in Lexis Nexus, she discovers his relation to Reina. That night, Maddie visits Reina to discuss the issue at hand. Simultaneously, during an evening with Albert, Victoria finds photos of him with his aunt, Officer Vascquez.
Bosch seeks to trace Detective Robertson’s final steps the night he died. Working with Detective Perry Lopez, they discover Jimmy was working on a “Juan Doe” case in South LA. The body had a substance underneath his fingernails and a Lancaster hotel keycard. They believe this individual was possibly linked to a narcotics case Robertson was investigating.
As Bosch secretly works this case, Mo reaches out to an old flame, FBI agent Jade Quinn, to get his hands on a sealed file on Finbar McShane. Because of their history, she comes through. He learns McShane had an accomplice previously linked to the agency.
Episode 7 is an exciting entry as each storyline reaches a tipping point. After being a plain C-line plot, the familial connection in the robbery case adds a welcome layer of tension. The writers opting not to delay this discovery make way for a potentially climactic scenario. It was also great to see Jessica Camacho’s Quinn return, given she played a role in Maurice’s storyline the previous season.
