To begin episode 4, we meet young Ray and his father. Ray’s father brings up how Ray had to leave school early because he had another episode. His father then tells him how he needs focus and discipline, and that can only be achieved through a mission. Back in the present, everyone is doing the sink or swim test. Fajardo confronts Sullivan about reenlistment paperwork, which was expected last week. Sullivan reassures her that he just hasn’t gotten to it yet.
Sullivan then yells at Ray to get out of the pool, accusing him of cheating. Ray almost has another episode later, and everyone heads outside while Ray is told to go to Med Bay. We then get another flashback of Ray’s father making him cut the grass with clippers, before Ray meets a female recruit in the Med Bay. Cameron tells Nash that he’s worried about Ray, and Nash tells him to just keep floating on his own.
With Nash not helping, Cameron has no one else to go to but Hicks. Sullivan then pays a lady to talk about advice on what to do with his enlistment. He then reveals that he was stationed in Guam, and mentions separation from the Marines. Cameron and Nash then go to Hicks to talk about what to do with Sergeant Knox, the instructor who punched Ray, who was simply assigned to a different platoon. Cameron says that he wants to stir up a rivalry between the two platoons, as an excuse for their platoon to retaliate.

Hicks obliges, and they agree to take out the toilet paper, and frame Knox’s platoon for doing it. Cameron gets in trouble the next day, and Ray then talks to Cameron to try and get the story on what happened. Ray believes him, and the potential war begins. Cameron’s conscience talks to him about lying to his friend, and we then get to the inspection. Sergeant Mckinnon gets pissed at the performance, and makes a mess of the platoon. During the cleanup, Mckinnon catches Nash with his book of secrets, where he reveals his opinions about the other recruits, including Cameron, who he says is kind of faggy.
Sullivan tells Fajardo that he decided not to reenlist, because he doesn’t see a future there. That night, Ray tries to console Cameron about Nash’s comments, and that everyone will forget about it. Ray then tells Cam that they are going to get revenge and get back their TP. The night of the TP revenge, Cam is missing. It’s revealed that Sullivan has him and is making him get in the dumpster to clean out the toilet paper. This is because he saw Cam stealing the toilet paper. The toilet paper mission is a success, and then Cam reveals why he did what he did. After a pep talk about being a Marine, he lets him go with a warning. Ray gets a second chance with the sink or swim test, and Sullivan signs his reenlistment papers.
Another good episode in the list, it maybe felt a little slower than the previous episodes, but not in a bad way, and it wasn’t something that would affect the viewing experience. The overall content didn’t decrease in quality, and the content didn’t increase again. It’s been a steady line of good, not incredible, and not bad or terrible. We also got more character development with Ray, finally seeing his father.
