We begin with the recruits watching a Marine Corps video. Mckinnon pauses the video to tell everyone that every Marine knows the next part by heart. Sullivan gets a call from Company Command, saying Sunday service and all outdoor training events are canceled because of the storm. Sullivan still has everyone clean the squad base, and Cameron and Ray have a talk about the squad leader issue. While everyone’s hanging around, the Drill instructor brings in the new recruit Santos Santos. Santos gets himself acquainted with the other recruits, before Cameron is told to file something.
As Cam is doing so, Sullivan walks into the room, and reads a letter addressed to him, before telling Cam to get out, commenting on his stance. Sullivan then makes everyone get in line before calling everyone a disgrace and making a mess of the base. He proceeds to give a speech about how some of the recruits cannot be changed into proud Marines and are just weeds in his field. Santos then steps in to find a solution to clean up the base, before we see Cameron’s mom in bed with the Marine recruiter.
The recruiter tells her about the Marine Moms meetup, and that they understand what she’s going through. The Confidence Course begins, and Sullivan allows Cameron to sit out on the first test. At the slide for life test, Cameron struggles, before Sullivan tells him to drop in the water because he’s wasting everyone’s time. Nash then runs ahead of the rest of the squad, and is subsequently removed as a squad leader for abandoning his team. Cameron once again has to prove he has something at the stairway to heaven test and has some success before his boot lace gets stuck. Sullivan helps him get his boot off, and brings him back down the ladder, before questioning him on why he’s still here.
Santos becomes the new squad leader. Nash asks Cameron if he thinks he made a mistake joining the Marines. Cam replies yes, and Nash talks about how his mom doesn’t know he signed up for the Marines and she would kill him. Nash reveals he joined the military to be a candidate for president. Cameron’s mother (Barbara) then speaks with the other Marine Moms about what it’s like to have a son in the Marines. Heading back to the Marine Corps, the final test is about to begin.
In it, the recruits will be exposed to tear gas, with masks to start, of course. Mo freaks out and has a mini panic attack, before striking a Drill Instructor. Everyone is told to remove their masks, and after everyone is exposed to tear gas, they are told to exit, while Cameron remains behind. Sullivan tells him to get out of the room, and looks pretty impressed with Cameron. Finally, we see Barbara talking with one of the Marine Moms Wendy, while everyone back at base writes to their families, and we finally see the note Sullivan was given.
The show is still good, it didn’t really have crazy improvements or downgrades, and remained the same in overall quality. Like previously said in the last review, we do get some more backstory as to why the other recruits joined the Marines, and it’s nice to the development there as well.
