Review: ‘Beef Season 2, Episode 7 “The Hour of Separation”

Ashley is getting ready to leave for Korea and Austin is helping her pack. Austin puts on a show for her, but once she leaves, something drastically changes in him. He calls his mom and she advises him to leave Ashley. He knows that Ashley had something to do with the dog, and his feelings for Eunice are becoming more apparent. Austin begins packing his things to leave.

Josh knows that Lindsay is also leaving for Korea, so he hands her the final divorce papers for her to sign. He doesn’t pressure her in any way, and tells her that she can just get to it when she can.

Eunice says her goodbyes to Chairwoman Park who’s leaving for  Korea to meet her husband, Dr. Kim, before Ava’s surgeries. Eunice guides her to the plane, but notices that Chairwoman Park left her phone on the table. Eunice hesitates before she picks it up and hides it. Nobody sees her.

As Austin approaches his car, Eunice stops and tells him everything. Dr.Kim accidentally murdered someone, and Chairwoman Park is trying to get money from the club to cover everything up. Eunice also believes that Woosh was murdered because he knew too much. On the plane, Chairwoman Park notices that her phone is missing, so she calls it. Eunice is nervous to answer when  Austin jumps right in and tells Chairwoman Park  he’s  coming to Korea with Eunice as they are  just catching up on work. Eunice and Austin then come up with a plan. They will back up all of the texts onto a computer, then report Chairwoman Park to the FBI. They get to work.

Ava, Ashley, and Lindsay get settled on the plane. Ashley has never been in business class before and is ecstatic. Austin then surprises Ashley on the plane and they sit next to one another! Nobody suspects a thing. However, Eunice is in her seat on the back of the plane, and feels like she is being watched. Austin keeps getting out of his seat to check on her; she’s backing up the texts onto a USB. Suddenly, Austin blurts out that he’s leaving Ashley and loves Eunice. Eunice can’t believe what she’s hearing. The two then go to a hidden part of the plane.

Ashley wonders where Austin went, so she gets out of her seat to look for him. Austin and Eunice keep talking about the phone and the backup, and who should be the one to do it. Ashley catches them at a bad angle, and grows hysterical. Austin drags her into a bathroom, and Lindsay trails behind them concerned. Lindsay overhears Austin and Ashely talking about killing Burberry, and becomes angrier than ever.

Everyone is in shambles for the rest of the flight as Eunice reveals the Chairwoman’s secret. Everyone needs to be on their best behavior moving forward as they will be watched like  hawks until they report the evidence to the FBI.

Josh is at home minding his own business before he hears footsteps outside his door. He walks out. It’s quiet. Then bam! Someone comes up from behind and injects him with a sedative. Cut to black.

This episode was so suspenseful in such great ways. We as the audience know about the murder that Chairwoman Park and her husband Dr. Kim are trying to cover up, but this is the first time that the characters are learning about it, and they all find out in different ways which blend together nicely. They are also finding out secrets about each other regarding potential affairs and the lost dog. The very end was incredibly suspenseful. What is going to happen to Josh? Is he going to survive? The other characters are also clearly in great danger as the Chairwoman is capable of anything and everything. This makes her a great antagonist as the other characters work around her.
