Dave season 3 episode 1, called “Texas” starts with Dave having a romantic morning with his female partner of the night. Dave is on tour, but unsure about having a relationship with his groupies. He wants a genuine relationship. Falling in love instead of just having intimacy. It shows that he has some maturity to him and is not just about the partying. Dave wants to meet his wife on his day off. His songs often reflect his lifestyle of excessive partying and too many women.
Dave’s night off deals with partying. He meets a new fan at the concert venue that just might be the soulmate he is searching for. He then meets a woman with a southern accent. Outside the club venue, he learns the woman’s name is Campbell. Dave asks this Campbell if he can hit on her. It’s playful, and she agrees to it. She’s a regular girl and tells him she isn’t a groupie. It is very nice that he might find a pleasant woman.
Campbell invites dave to party with her friends at her house. Campbell ends partying a bit too much, and Dave was feeling awkward around her friends when alone. The best night of the group’s life is a kind of sad existence. Dave, however, schools the group on what he really wants. A soulmate, an authentic person who he can be honest with.
Dave escapes a hairy situation that escalates because of his stardom. Dave goes by the stage name “Little Dicky” because of the size of his adulthood. He has a wild night, truly a night he won’t forget, but maybe this could be a lesson on his life choices. He needs to give up the wild partying. Most likely he will not and by the end of the season, everything will come crashing down. Or maybe by some miracle he will find his true soulmate.
Just from the story and vibe of this show, The targeted demographic of the show would have to be people in their 20s and 30s. That still have the concert, party lifestyle of not wanting to mature to quickly.A very enjoyable episode that shows makes awkward comedy natural and appeal to the hipster vibe of diverse audiences. It is a comedy sketch of hip-hop/rap lyrics, often overly sexual. There are plenty of comedy chops that were unexpected, but pretty funny. Dave is the comedic trope on the hip Caucasian bro whose occupation is a rapper.
It will be intersting to find out what will happen next to our main character. His future relationships and if he can find genuine success in the rap business.
