‘Andor’ Season 1 Episode 1 “Kassa”

Andor Season one Episode one “Kassa” Starts with Diego Luna’s Cassian Andor walking into a bar on the far reaches of a planet due to his need to find someone he appears to care about. This is demonstrated by the look the viewer sees on his face as he asks for a particular person while at the bar. Unfortunately, this leads to a couple of planetary officers harassing him outside as a result of them feeling as if they have power over anyone that passes by them while he doesn’t want any trouble as he just wants to leave the bar in peace. In his mind, all Andor wants is to find the person he is looking for. He does not want to get caught in some ridiculous fight that is not worth the trouble. Even if the officers do seem like they deserve to get beat up he knows that it will just draw attention he does not want on to himself as a result of his actions. However, things go wrong when he decides to fight to lead to him killing the officers.

A couple of minutes into the episode, the viewer sees a village full of kids as Antonio Vina’s young Cassian Andor hangs out with his younger sister who the viewer can guess is the person he is trying to find. The interesting part is that even though the village is all kids they seem to be thriving just fine without adults. Their culture even seems to be based on Native Americans due to how they have spears, live in man-made huts, and paint their face with some hunting paint. This is a great way to show how Andor already knows how to survive well on his own as he has been taught to do so as a child.

Later into the episode, the viewer sees Andor talk to Adria Arjona’s Bix Caleen about a buyer for something he is trying to sell. This is due to the fact that he needs the money to leave the planet in order to evade the authorities as well as look for his sister. From what the viewer can see they appear to have some sort of close intimate relationship between them. Or at the very least Bix acts as if she wants to have that type of relationship with him due to how close she gets to him even going as far as to make him jealous by talking about another guy. In her eyes, she sees that Andor is a guy who is not good for her due to the trouble he might bring to her. However, she just cannot help but want to get close enough to his heart to see what mystery lies behind this man with a hidden past.

At the end of the episode, the viewer sees that Andor gets fired from his job all the while Kyle Soller’s Syril Karn looks for him due to his apparent obsession with justice as a result of punishing those who commit crimes. Even though his commanding officer told him to let the officers that Andor killed go without justice he cannot let it sit still until he finds Andor to arrest him.
