The second season of Prime Video’s crime thriller series, Cross gets major update by its creator, Ben Watkins (Hand of God, Brave Story) about how it felt working with the new addition. According to Screenrant, the star that Watkins praises is none other than Matthew Lillard (Five Nights at Freddy’s, Scooby-Doo), who will play billionaire Lance Durand, the target of various threats against him.
Watkins goes on to state i an interview with Screenrant about the adding the famous actor to the roster,”When Matthew Lillard’s name came up as a possible actor for this role, I was immediately intrigued, but also a little bit like, “How can he do that?” And it was because I’ve been following Matthew literally my whole life. He’s one of those people that has become a cult of personality. He’s an icon a little bit. And so for a lot of us, and I bet you can relate, you think Matthew Lillard first and then the character, right? And so for me, it was like, ‘He’s going to have to read and then we will see.”
Continuing his statement,” And so he came in and did a chemistry read with Aldis. Even in the chemistry read, he made me forget it was Matthew Lillard. I’m kind of geeking out. I’m like, “Oh my gosh, Matthew Lillard.” I love all this stuff he’s been in. My kids love him. It’s crazy how all these generations love him.”
Screenrant states, Watkin’s statement not only expresses Lillard’s performance change but also focuses on the unexpected team-up of Alex Cross, played by Aldis Hodge (Leverage, Black Adam) and FBI Agent Kayla Craig, portrayed by Alona Tal (Broken City, Seal Team), who are dedicated to solving the mystery behind the case.
All current episode of the second season of Cross are available to stream on Prime Video, with weekly release every Saturday.
