Zoinks! A Live-Action ‘Scooby-Doo’ Series Is Gearing Up For Netflix

A live-action series version of the acclaimed cartoon, Scooby-Doo, is currently in the works for Netflix.According to Deadline, the franchise was launched in 1969 with the first animated series titled Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, which was created by Joe Ruby (Scoob!) and Ken Spears (Jabberjaw).There has been various installments surrounding the franchise throughout the years. With the latest spinoff, Velma, just having wrapped up its second season.

This is not the first time that the Scooby gang was brought to live for there has been four films released back in the early 2000s. According to Deadline, the series will be produced by powerhouse Greg Berlanti (The Flash) and Warner Bros. Television (The Sandman). The writers of the live-action will be Josh Appelbaum (Citadel) & Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji: The Next Level). The will mark the return of Appelbaum (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Rosenberg (Con-Air)  and their Midnight Radio partners (Dark Tower), were they have executively produced the live Cowboy Bebop series.

According to Deadline, the deal of the live-adaption was made directly behind the Netflix release of Berlanti Productions/WBTV’s supernatural crime series, Dead Boy Detectives, which hit the top ten and stayed there for three weeks. The series’ premise will most likely stay the same with the gang going around solving mysteries. The atmosphere of it remains a mystery not knowing if it will be a comedic or serious.

There has been no news of the cast, which leaves fans left wonder on who will be played the mystery gang, and how will they generated the lovable titled canine character. Time will tell whether the brand new live-action series will stand the test of time. The live-action will most likely  iconic villains from the animated series such as The Creeper and Miner Forty-Niner into the series to further enhance the nostalgia .
