Zoe Terakes (Nine Perfect Strangers) will be joining the cast of the upcoming Marvel series Ironheart, according to Deadline. Details on Terakes’ role in the upcoming series are currently unclear.
Ironheart, which Disney+ officially announced would be releasing in Fall 2023 at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, will be Dominique Thorne (Judas And The Black Messiah), Anthony Ramos (In The Heights), Manny Montana (Good Girls), Alden Ehrenreich (Solo: A Star Wars Story), and Shea Couleé (Finesse), as Deadline notes. Production on the upcoming Marvel series has already started.
Terakes, who is transgender and non-binary, will be another member of the LGBTQ+ community to star in a Marvel film or TV show. Xochitl Gomez (Raven’s Home) played America Chavez in Doctor Strange And The Multiverse Of Madness. The recent Marvel film Eternals starred Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta) as Phastos and Lauren Ridloff (The Walking Dead) as Makkari, who were two characters who considered themselves members of the LGBTQ+ community in the film, although the Tyree Henry and Ridloff are not members themselves.
Terakes has made a name for themselves since beginning their career in 2017, where they got their start appearing on multiple episodes of the Australian Drama series Janet King. They made multiple appearances in a number of different shorts while also appearing in TV shows such as The End, Wentworth, The Moth Effect, and Nine Perfect Strangers, which they starred in alongside Nicole Kidman (Big Little Lies).
Ironheart will be directed by Samantha Bailey (Dear White People) and Angela Barnes (Teenage Bounty Hunters), while Kevin Feige (Avengers: Endgame), Louis D’Esposito (Iron Man), Victoria Alonso (Thor: Love And Thunder), Brad Winderbaum (Thor: Ragnarok), Zoie Nagelhout (Black Panther), Chinaka Hodge (Snowpiercer), Zinzi Coogler (Creed), and Sev Ohanian (Searching) will serve as executive producers for the show. Hodge will also serve as head writer.
