According to ScreenRant, the star of the HBO drama Euphoria explains how they dealt with tough moments on set as the production for the third installment is right around the corner. Zendaya (Challengers), during Variety’s “Actors on Actors,” brought up her challenges and experiences playing Rue in the series and the uncertainties after the second season’s release. Although she doesn’t speak of what’s to come in the third season, Zendaya talks about how draining it is to shoot new series episodes
Zendaya said, “We’re supposed to do another season. I’ve only done two, but it feels like five. One season of “Euphoria” is like, “Phew!”
As per ScreenRant, Zendaya tells Nicole Kidman (Big Little Lies), who was with her during the event, “I still have my Rue scars.” Expressing the toll the character had on her filming the series, as it could be mentally and emotionally taxing. Zendaya tries to get out the character’s mindset as soon as she’s done filming.
Zendaya continued, “I’m still learning, but I do know that I like to have fun on my job. I don’t want to be miserable just because the character’s miserable. On “Euphoria,” we’d have really, really tough days. I’m like, OK, gotta go cry and knock down a door real quick, and then I’ll come back like, Hey, Cheesecake Factory? What are we getting for lunch?” I try my best to leave them at work and go home and live my life and be a person.
Euphoria follows the life of Rue, played by Zendaya, a drug addict fresh from rehab with no plans to stay clean. Through the series, we see different high school characters in the town of East Highland, California, who try to balance the strains of love, loss, sex and addiction.
The third season of the series is scheduled to start production in January 2025 with it premiering in 2026.
Euphoria is available to stream on Max.
